racetech or a fia cert seat are the best built..kirky is comfy though..i have 7 bad disc an cant sit long yet i can pass out in my kirky.
if i was getting a new seat id grab a fia approved one with a halo built in for helmet support or the racetech which is the same style especially if the car has a funny car cage.

How do you like the head restraint wings on your seat? Can you see well to the sides?
You guy's got me looking at the Racetech 4100HR seat to upgrade from our Kirkey. We don't have a funny car cage so I am thinking the Racetech with the wings would be a nice safety upgrade.
Depends on what you are doing with the car. With a bad back, see your doctor till him what you are doing and see if he says if a race seat is ok for your back. If you are going to drive the car around town or take long trips. Get something that is comfortable and supportive of your back. For a race seat that you are only going to be using a few minutes at a time, consider what your doc says and contact a seat manufacturer directly and have a custom race seat designed for you.
I have the Hans pour in seat kits, and Butler used to make them also IIRC.
We did the Hans in a buddies car and he absolutely loves it.
Plus we able to build up a couple of spots that were uncomfortable and now he fits like a glove.
I have a Kirkey seat for my car. Back when I first got the car going I did not have the padded covering. I just ran the car with nothing more than the seat. First pass on the N2O and it wheelied pretty good. Me being the novice driver I let it come back down hard. My back hurt for two years after that day. It was nothing I had to go to the doc for but it was noticeable. I now have the padded cover which is not much support anyways but it's better than nothing.
I run a containment style Kirkey(more common to circle and road course) with poured foam.
Thankfully haven't had a crash test but have had some nasty mishaps that had me sideways and bicycled up onto one wheel at one point. Could feel where the seat was helping hold me for a couple days after, to the point that I'm certain a lesser seat would have had me hurting.
by the time you do a carbon seat, moly supports and frame, a pour in kit, and head protecters you just buy the racetech and your done.
