Going to be pretty maxed out on turbine. You might get away with it using the largest A/R housing available but still not what I would call ideal. What seems to be driving your interest, physical size or cost??

I just got a s491/100 from Jose for my 403 build. I've seen what they been making on fb and should make 1400whp easy

I've never understood other than class racing ....why you would want to run a small turbo pushed hard/to the edge.

Sure it can run the number...... But think how much happier and potent the combo would be on a larger unit

 

I never understood people who put too big of a turbo on and then fight spool issues and an underperforming combo.

well, whats the turbine housing amd wheel ? how big is the exhuast system? mufflers ? solid roller ? lobe #s ? head flow ? intake manifold ? throttle body size ? converter specs ? transmission type ?

 

I have one of the first s491’s Jose built. Ive had it since October of last year. I plan on getting mine running for next year. Its going on my 79 malibu. 421ci sbc with traditional 23* heads. Blow thru E85 carb. Should be interesting.

 

It's a 132 housing 96 mm wheel Turbo 400 I don't know the Loeb specs but it's a solid roller Edelbrock EFI intake and that has reported never had them flow benched but it picked up after porting. It's a 9.5PTC converter it's a tight converter

How fast does boost come in?

Your car should run 170mph.

My car was slow for what it was when I first started racing it.. It had truck manifolds and a not ideal crossover. I put shorty headers, I built a new crossover, same length and same diameter pipe. I picked up 10mph on the same boost after that change.

I'm not saying that's whats wrong with your car but sometimes the stuff that works for everyone else doesn't work for everyone..

 

How much you putting on the gate ? My new gate location takes 60 on the gate to make 32 psi .

My combo take 32psi to make almost 1400hp . And makes that 32psi before 2nd gear .

Im sure it could run in the 7s a thousand pounds lighter .
