Callies is ( assuming it is a top of the line model ) a very good forged crankshaft.

Bryant is a very good billet crankshaft.

A top grade billet crankshaft is made out of material generally considered to be far stronger than a comparable forged crank, hence they are the standard/only choice 3000-7000 hp.

F3 either would work fine, if you want the strongest then a Bryant is the way to go.

From what i've been told Winberg and Bryant are in a class of their own for custom billets. We went with Bryant because they had a better rep for on time delivery. We've run Crower forged and Chinese in a 2500hp BBC and the Bryant makes the nicest looking bearings by far. The Crower cracked under abuse and the Chi deal broke for no reason.
The Bryant is a work of art accurate to .0005 as close as I could measure, and they send a xmas card every year.
I know the difference between forged and billet and i'd never run forged in a max effort deal again. I don't think they stay as straight under high loads.

Bryant IS in a class by themselves in my opinion!! I split #3 and #4 main caps in two last year with nitrous, didnt even rock a bearing! Polished it after checking it out very thoroughly and have been running it all this season with ZERO issues! Best crankshaft made!!!

Can't argue with a bryant for the ultimate crankshaft, and ultimate in flexibility in design.

'Good' Forgings can take the power also, IF.... that's a big IF you can find a forging to fit your critieria, or requirements.

Such as, Center Counterweights. If your combination really needs center counterweights, you may not find it in a forging... in that instance, the Billet crank is far superior.

The forgings just limit you in design. But they are very strong.

The billets you can design one off strength into the finished product.

Neither is indestructible both can crack and fatigue.

Callies offers the best in a forging IMHO.

Thanks guys for all the input, I heard a lot of great things about both cranks. My concern was billet vs forged in my application. I want to make upwards of 2200 horsepower withthe F3 and some where along the line someone said forged will last longer than billet in the over a long term use. The other thing was is the $500 more worth it? I think I have my answer. IF I was building a NA motor or even a smaller blower application I would be right on the cost savings with Callies but in this case i think I am going with Bryant. Now my only obstacle left is whether JE can make me an inverted dome piston for a 6.700 rod that can give me 8.5:1 using a 118cc head.

I don't think JE will have a problem with that. Do you have someone that can get you some good prices? It sounds like you are building one serious motor, good luck with your build.

A friend of mine sells speed parts but I figure "custom" pistons from JE arent going to have much of a discount. I dont really want to go that route but JE's inverted dome piston is for a 6.535 rod, which is ok but I dont want to cut the crank to clear the stroke, so I figured if they can make a piston with enough meat on the top and still have a -28cc inverted dome all will be good.

Bryant is one of the best but also costs more than Callies. I ran Callies for years in a 555 with no issues. Used a Callies in new 598. We looked a Bryant but the cost was about double and Callies would work well for our setup. If you have the extra money or you were using any additives, turbo or blown I would use Bryant.
