not fast but still small tire.. my 84 stang ran 11.40s with a 26-8 slick...my falcon runs 13.20s with a straight 6 on 26-6 slicks

I think Greatouse went a .96 on 8.5s. I don't think he was at weight but I could be wrong. And if I'm not mistaken he holds the record with a 5.03.

Hey boostedsbc checkout my sig down below for some 8.5 racing and more for 2013 season.

 

it would definitely slow down on 8.5's. Bill Glidden ran 7.60's with that red nmca car he had on 26/10's back in the late 90's

 

Its hard enough to get down the track sometimes with a 10.5 let alone 8.5.

 

I was just curious as there is only .8" difference in tread width between the 26x10 M/T tire I run, and the 8.5" Hoosier tire. I wouldn't think it'd be that substantial. But like I said, I've yet to try.

Mockstang, I might have to check out some of those races next year.

I'd say the Hoosier 26x8.5 would be faster than a 26x10 non-stiff.

I like watching real 8.5 cars there sweet, not much a fan of tube chassis tubed cars with an 8.5 tire stretched on a 10" rim. Jmp though :smt102

Whats wrong with that? I agree about the tube chassis or even full on back half cars but you can put a 10" wheel under about any car with no mods at all. My 94 Mustang has 10" wheels without even rolling the wheel wells.

I wouldn't fit into the limited class. At least not the rules that I have seen.

My car in my signature is 15x10's with a 26x8.5 Hoosier.

 

That doesn't look bad on a stock wheel well or slightly. Mini tubed car but the big wheel tubed cars with the 10" rim 8.5 stretch just doesn't do anything for me

 

Mine has completely stock wheel tubs, which is why I have 26's on my car. Can't fit anything bigger with how low my car sits.

 

Biggest tire I can fit on my car slick wise is a 26x 8.5 maybe a 27

Local guy here in Dayton,Ohio has been 5.03/5.04 (record) down at London Drag Way in Kentucky during an actual race .........not testing like greathouse

 

Holy shit Joels car is NASTY. Looks crazy with those little tires on. My car looks so silly with the 8.5's on....With 13psi the tires look flat. OP, I watched your car at WCF, that's a sick little car dude.

 

Joel went 4.96 at Holly Springs. Darren Hilterbran has been 5.03 or 5.04 at London, KY. I ran both races so I saw them first hand.

8.5s look the best on 10" rims in my opinion and they also let you run more air pressure than a 8" rim.
