Technically they can deny your cash withdrawal
Especially if you give them a dumb answer

When you open a bank account, you enter into an agreement with the bank on THEIR terms. 99.99% of us dont read these terms, and thats why we get pissed when it bites us in the ass

Everything works in the banks favor
Just something to be aware of

We are all victims of our own desires for simplicity
If we would all go back to cash, this wouldnt be a problem
America is addicted to “fast, gimme now”
This is the caveat

Yet another example of how peon employees readily go along with the agenda of ruining America. If I were working at a bank and I was told that I have to ask customers why they’re pulling cash out, I would say absolutely not. If that meant my job, then it means my job, because I’m not doing it. But NOBODY has enough principle or backbone any more to take stands like that, so we go down the tubes.

Part of the reason I do what I do is because I won’t go along with bullshit like this. I figured out as a teenager that being part of the mass working world means compromising on your own principles and having to do/say things that I could never do, so I chose to stay out of it and never work for someone else.

It’s the same reason I don’t use banks at all either. I am NOT going to ask for permission or give explanations to ANYONE to use MY fucking money any damn way I see fit.

Watch me catch a ton of flak from the soft-minded cavers who think I’m somehow the bad guy, despite being on your side, but just taking a stronger stance on it than almost everyone, and in this case quite literally putting my money where my mouth is.

I make it a point to never withdraw more than $8900/day. I don't know if $9000 is still their threshold but I've never had them ask me about it.

When they do, I'll just tell them it's for hookers and blow!

That is definitely a real thing that is happening more and more, and is a real problem. There are certain cases where asking someone why they’re withdrawing a large amount of money has helped save someone from being scammed… but making it any kind of federal law or even bank policy that requires them to ask everyone is just insane. It should be limited to cases where the bank teller has reason to be suspicious. Like for example, an elderly customer who never makes large cash withdrawals, but suddenly wants a large amount in cash.. that could be a sign of someone getting scammed. If banks asked solely as a means to help prevent people getting scammed and it had NOTHING to do with any federal reporting or even making notes themselves, I wouldn’t have as much problem with it. But I don’t owe the federal government an answer in any way shape or form about what I’m spending my money on.

Bank policy these days is to have the CSR's ask customers about any larger cash withdrawals to try to protect vulnerable people from scammers.
It also gives the bank protection from being blamed for not protecting them if there is any future legal action from potential fraud victims
Giving the customer service rep a hard time for doing their job is a dick move FWIW.

People said the same thing about giving employees a hard time for enforcing mask mandates. This is exactly how the government succeeds in normalizing this kind of shit - by putting it on the peons to enforce it, making soft people less likely to push back. When in reality, the employees should also say no to this shit, so we don’t have to give them a hard time.

I just sold my RV last week and the guy wanted to do the deal on Saturday and my credit union is not open on Saturday but his bank was. I settled on cash from his bank. Yesterday (Monday) when my bank opened I walked in with a large sum to deposit and the teller asked what I did for a living and that she had to ask. I wanted to tell her that I robbed a bank but since I was carrying I decided to just tell her my profession...lol.

I was going to look at a car, so I wanted cash on me if I liked it. So I stopped by the bank, wanted to take out 5 grand. Not a sum of money I think is excessive for a bank. A nice chunk, but not I'm putting the bank in a bind by taking it out amount. Lady at the window freaked out. Said I have to call ahead if I wanted to withdraw such a huge amount. Didn't know what to say other than "It's just 5 grand?"
