Wow! You just made me lose a bet. I said you’d never make a post that would make any sense at all. You just proved me wrong and cost me five bucks. Congratulations.
Unfortunately his post was also at least somewhat misleading. While it is true that quality of manufacture and materials definitely makes a difference in battery safety, the fact is that EVs tend to have much higher quality batteries and cells than most other devices, and we have seen LOTS of EV fires despite that.

In the real world, where for-profit companies are responsible for making the safety/cost decisions, there will never be the emphasis on safety required to legitimately ensure safety on a scale that will satisfy reasonable expectations.

The Bobcat T7X is around $200k, and as we see here, even EXPENSIVE EVs are not immune to rapid battery deflagration.

The insurance lobby is going to shut this madness down. It will be the first time in my life that I’ll be thankful for the insurance industry shutting something down. But in this case, as obviously dangerous as these things are, it’s about time.
lose power in your vibrator to soon?

Matson suspends ALL shipping of EVs due to fire risk

The end is coming for EVs. When big companies like this make big decisions like this, you CANNOT continue to ignore the reality staring you directly in your foolish face any more. This might have been the first, but it will not be the last.

Getting an EV to and from Hawaii just became a lot more difficult. It will only grow more so as more companies refuse to ship them. When a SINGLE electric vehicle fire can sink an entire cargo ship with hundreds of millions in cargo aboard, the companies are either going to stop taking that risk, or their insurance companies will make them. It’s inevitable. Dumbasses like Henry can keep denying reality and trying to keep the foolish dream alive, but reality is kicking you in the nuts every single day.

Also, fire departments are changing their strategies on fighting these atrocious fires. The smoke is WAY more toxic than most other fires they typically face, and the intensity of the fires are forcing them to just back off and let them burn. This is what is going to do in a building or parking garage one of these days. It’s bad enough to fight one out in the open - it’s MUCH worse still to fight one in a confined parking garage or underground parking below a building. They’re going to have no choice but to let it burn in order to preserve their own lives, and sacrifice a building as a result. It WILL happen sooner or later. And many houses will burn to the ground in the meantime due to single EV fires in the garage.

The story continues to be told, growing chapter by chapter, every day.. a Tesla that has been sitting for TWO YEARS went charbroil, TWICE in two days.

Can you imagine if Christine had been an EV? It’d be all cubed up in the junkyard and still burn shit down!

I think burning shit down is not so secretly what HairyFurd wants. Just like democrats, who want criminals to run free and burn cities down, then write articles about how “republicans rage” in response. That’s why HairyFurd continues to completely ignore the reality of how dangerous EVs are now, and keep mindlessly pushing the fake virtues of them that he so foolishly, yet steadfastly believes in. He is playing the exact same playbook as the democrats when their people burn down cities. “Fiery but mostly functional cars”, he’s saying.

I’m going to keep putting the pressure on, because someone has to in the face of all this dangerous stupidity.

A friend bought the Tesla sedan when it first came out and has been happy ever since. When the Cybertruck became available he jumped on one of those as well. He has a few Chevelle's which are damned nice. The kid is smaart as hell actually so I have zero negative to say there. If you are correct he may change his tune as he has a nice home in a reasonably pricey area. More will be revealed... Would I buy an electric vehicle? Nope, I even bought a gas powered riding mower last year.

When I worked at GM Tonawanda a couple of R@g head truck drivers loaded some electric fork trucks onto a semi to transport to Ohio.
The loading dock is on an incline. They drove away without securing the load. one of the fork trucks rolled out, hit the ground and caught fire. The plant has an on site fire dept.

Fire started around 1 pm. They were still putting it out when I left at 5:30.

Just a forklift battery…

Lithium Phosphate batteries are pretty damn safe. As a matter of fact they have zero chance of thermal runaway. They're just expensive as fuck.
That is COMPLETELY false. They have a lower chance of going into thermal runaway, but ABSOLUTELY NOT zero chance. They burn up all the time still, just less often. But they are expensive like you said, AND they have substantially less storage capacity. There is a reason why precisely ZERO EVs are using them now.

Prove it. Pretty sure the only reason they don' t use it is because it's expensive AF and the energy density is not ideal.

You can spend five seconds googling and educate yourself. My time isn’t free.
