how about this for sheer stupidity.
the guys ........ kids we were, would climb up the shitty security fence/embankment/pier, up and on to the 'el' station platform.
(for those who dont know, the cta has electric trains, 2,4,6,8 cars in length. This area (rodgers park, near loyola), the tracks were up an embankment, with bridges over the streets)
crossing the 3rd rail doing so. stations are 500? 700? feet long. trains would always stop, so the last car ended up at the end of the station. the very last window, was a conductor booth. usually this window was open. (summer, they didnt a/c the cars back then)
we would take turns, hanging on that window and the farthest one ridden was the winner.
one guy freaked and didnt jump off at the end. he held on for 2 stations screaming. we were 11 or 12
