im wanting to build a procharger motor but dont want efi.
i will be building a blow thru system with a 7531 ignition.
my questions are dollar for dollar should i build a big block or small block. what size procharger and engine displacement.
car will be a small tire car 28x10.5 3.73 gear car weight is 3200lb with driver want to be able to run 6.0s on low boost and when time comes to turn boost up be able to run some 5.20s.

Do you have a car all set up or anything? Making power is easy, doing it without breaking stuff and also getting it to the ground is the hard part. Are you looking for a chevy? Ford? Mopar? What are your goals?

i had a 356" sbf with a f1r c&s aerosol carb afr 205 last year went 5.22@137 could of went faster i think high 5.0? i dont think you will have a problem making power using it all thats a different story

suspension is top notch 4 link, fab 9, dual coil over 12 way adjustable shocks ect. i will order the converter after i know what im building. i have the converter built to hold the hp to run 5.0s but im going to run a lower boost to to run 6.0s to learn the car and get a feel for everything before i try to jump straight in the low 5s. money wise already know not cheap but im buying a dart iron block, dimond pistons, crank, rods, ect, will be getting cam motion to build my cam and neal chance for the converter. heads will have shaft mount rockers all the goods. mechanical lifters. now the intake and up idk yet id like to do a blow thru carb system because i dont want efi. but can you have the car manual fuel injected on race gas like maxima 116 and if so what type of intake and carb or injector hat type stuff would i need.

i want so stick with a chevy motor and dont matter on bbc or sbc changing motor mounts so its fine.
the car use to have a 406ci sbc with an f2 procharger intercooled and blow thru on maxima 116. have same jw glide that was in car and 7531ignition car went a best of 4.78@157mph and a 1.20 60ft on a 275 radial so car is proven i just dont have a motor only transmision and car wiring with the 7531

Why not just do another 406 with an F2 then? For the carb talk to CSU, or C&S, they will get you set up.
well i have been looking at mechanical fuel injection and might go that direction and stay away from efi. and his set up was nice but im wondering if a good 496bbc with an f2 fuel injected with good heads and internals ect would produce more hp. and it would be about 5k cheaper if i could build a 496 being i can get parts cheaper and already have a block but i want to know which set up would be better and long lasting with less maintence

BBC > SBC

I have a killer top end for a BBC that would be perfect for what you are doing. Heads all the way up to the carb hat and even a cam. I have been 5.3's with this combo non-intercooled on a 496 and 4.99 with an a/w intercooler on a 509.

Sending you a PM on the details. Blow-thru is not hard to tune at all. Morris has an inexpensive video you can buy on the carb tuning. Once you get it dialed in though, you usually don't have to touch it. I've gone a whole season without touching the carb.

x2 Alot of people think you have to always adjust them and work on them. Once you get it dialed in, they are great!

(.0045 gap, is this a good plug and is the gap good?)
I am assuming you mean 0.045. That seems a bit wide. I run mine at 0.018 - 0.020 at 18# of boost.

Also, the BOV just vents boost when you are not at WOT. It shouldn't need adjustment.

Yeah that's what I meant, .045. I tried editing the post but it won't let me. I've actually changed it to .040. I drive the truck often and don't hammer on it a lot. Will reducing the gap help with gas mileage? As for the BOV, it's adjustable - how much should it be venting at idle? Does is really matter, just as long as it's closed at WOT? Sorry for all the newb questions, I'm still trying to figure the SC stuff out without breaking anything. Thanks for the info.
