Ok, we have some progress, Jim took the NOS block Boss 9 headed 521 off the dyno and setup the 427/482 FE that had dyno'ed +-650hp with ford holley carbs, it was sold and Jim/stuska1 worked over some new 750 holleys and installed upgraded springs and retainers and it should be making some noise on Sunday.

More shiny Ford goodness setup on the dyno......it's going to look good setting under the hood of a AC Cobra.

Are those the lifters Morel imports from China?
DK where the Morels are made, they are marked just like all the other Morels. New cam is on the way and the Isky/Johnson lifters are going in and then back on the dyno for the customer. With the plunger stuck it was luck that the pushrod did not unseat the retaining clip and cause some real damage.

Well based on years of pictorial evidence of the level of cleanliness used in that shop its not surprising. An old machinist friend of mine once said to me, "If you swap the L and F in Lifter you get Filter.
Always the customer's fault with you, isn't it. I've seen some pics of your shop lately and it looks like a shit hole. Nothing compared to what it was when I was there. Of course, anyone who knows you and what your normal surroundings look like, it's no surprise. Jim's shop doesn't look any worse than any other normal working shop. His assemblies are always clean the the workmanship looks as good, it not better than most.

Pretty sure those are made in Mexico.
Another comparison you can make is the tolerance on the diameter. Morels are all over the place. Seen over half a thou in a set, last set I measured. You won't find more than two tenths in a set of Johnsons. I used them in a pair of matching marine engines I did year before last and there was a tenth variation in two sets. That's +/-50 millionths in 32 lifters. I can't speak to the Gatermans as I've never used a set but I always hear good things about them.

I have never had a Gaterman lifter fail. There is always and excuse when a Morel takes a shit, this time It's my "dirty" shop. I wasn't going to bring this up but if we are making jabs why not. The first thing the guy at Johnson said to me was
"our lifters don't make a racket like theirs" . There's probably a guy in Mexico checking hydraulic unit clearance with a vernier caliper or a pair of dividers.

We changed the Morels solid lifters in my 700hp 9 to 1 cr pump gas 521 to Crower's due to all the oil was pumping by the wheel and very little was making it to the top, I think 3 out of the 16 rockers were getting oil, thank God we preoiled before putting on the intake, you could see the oil just flooding by the wheels.
