Why blanket over shield?

 

Because some of us don't want to beat the shit out their tunnel to get it to fit. :-D

I have the RCI on mine.. Get some safety pins to hold up the strap ends.

RCI. I change it out like my belts....

 

After seeing some of the trans carnage pictures here, I put my blanket back on. I recently rolled a sprag in my TH400, and in doing research, came across some bad pictures here on YB. As much as any part can come unglued seemingly at will, no 1-2 burnouts and no neutral at the stripe may help keep the trans together.

None. Just got back from Englishtown. Made several passes today. Had no trouble shifting. You really don't cinch it up that tight. You can see it hangs loose under the pan. You do need at least an inch clearance to the headers or you'll melt it a little.

 

RCI blanket here. Tried a shield would not fit. The linkage did hang up a little until we loosened the blanket a little.

 

DJ Safety makes one. It fits great and is easy to install.

 

I have a rci when mine gets dirty I use so super clean and quarter laundry mat works good.

God help the person who uses it after me

 

i run an rci been on there for years sometimes daily driven street car!!!

RCI- on the second one. First lasted 4 years. Better safe than sorry.

If you neutral a TH400 after the stripe that's what happens, 2.48 x Engine RPM on the drum and it explodes. Hutch has covered this many a time over in the trans section.
CSR make a carbon shield that fits in tight trans tunnels, I melted 2 RCI blankets before I went to the CSR.

 

Stroud can make you one. Stroud also does a Kevlar version that is lighter and thin. If you want a nylon one they are a bit heavier and we can add some heat resistant shielding where the exhaust would run by it.
