A Vic Jr is absolutely perfect for that setup. Our dyno and track experiences were excellent on very similar combos. A 1-1/4 spacer on the Vic Jr will allow it to flow just about identical to a Super Vic, FYI.

 

Sell them, and get a RPM Air Gap and make money doing it.

 

You dont like the vic or dom intake for this combo?

 

We tested an air gap, Vic Jr and Super Vic on an 11:1 408 sbc with a 750 HP.

 

With that gearing an RPM

 

A 5 speed means it has a ton of low gear with the 3.73 the motor is not going to wind up real high the air gap will pull to 6500 and you have no stall to cheat the single plane up with, I might trim the divider on it. Hey its my choice for what you have with a good 4150 on top.

Victor Jr. Bolt er on and don't look back. If the bottom end is soggy, then bother with finding a dual plane. Sounds like a fun street setup!

 

just try them and if your not happy buy something ealse, but my money would be on the strip dominator.

Was in same boat.with my 400 was told rpm...just about broke in and I must say its got lots of pull! Rpm is a lil taller though

Seems like its about 50/50 vic jr. vs airgap i guess flip a coin.

I'd go with the Vic Jr.

 

Factor that in with how many guys have manual trans in their street strip car, and need to accelerate without a conveters help on the street, unless your going to clutch it and down shift all the time. Try what you have its a easy swap, if you happy run it.

 

My dad had a super victor on a combo similar to yours and it didn't seem soggy , it wasn't optimum but it worked

 

His was in a 72 Nova with 4.10 and a tight convertor 2800 stall with right around 9 to 1 it ran 11.40-11.50's and then I got ahold of it now it has compression a little more agressive cam a good valve job and hopefully it will run a bit better
