I would still like to see how fofo' scar would respond if he turned the big kit on first, bank it like he is turn it on at the hit and the 2nd 1/2 .2 in.

Just that one kit and see how the car responds for the first 330.

If the car wants power like the general consensus is....
Why not give the thing what it really wants.

Maybe, I've heard they are looking at or are developing one. With slicks you get a little "warning" that the tire isn't happy so you can react to it. With a radial, they either stick or take off without any warning to driver. If you have listened to interviews after radial tire wrecks, this is a common theme that we hear.

True, every radial wreck I see it looks like the car is fine then bang it's trying to swap ends with itself. That's one of the main reasons I am extremely hesitant to want to go down that road. For the slow crap I'm going to run no point and no advantage to running them.

Here's a different perspective of looking at a Logger Graph, & looking at ET...

Ty's graph is a thing of "smooth" beauty: Result is 1.10 60' @ 2750#:

My graph is "butt ugly": Result is 1.08 60' @ 2950#:

I realize this is largely explained, as Monte has pointed out, by a Radial Tire & Track, vs. a Slick Tire & Track.

This is in no way to demean Ty's performance at all, but rather to illustrate that the fastest ET is the goal, & not a pretty graph. This also reminds me of our potential to get even BETTER, with some tuning, via Timers & Timing, as Ty has suggested.

the reason i like this stuff is its almost like you can never reach perfection, but perfection should always be the goal. I get sick of racing every now and then because its lots of headaches and work but after a short break im usually ready to come back and pick up where i left off.

I agree. For the fleeting seconds we are in the car going down the track, I often ask myself "WTF". And the answer is always the same. For the LOVE & CHALLENGE of the Sport. Can't wait for this heat & rain to pass, & some cool dry air move in. Then Game On.

Thx Ty for sharing.

I mentioned Stevie's car, so lets look at the facts. He went a 3.75 on radials and I think a 3.69 or .68 on big tires. It's going to backhalf what it backhalfs on big or small tires, because that's the power it has. On his high .60 passes on big tires I am betting the 60ft was in the .930s or .940s. It's not going to and didn't do that on radials. I think it was .990s, so it was 6-7 numbers slow in 60ft, yet only 6 off his best on the scoreboard. So what does that mean? What it means is that is was hauling ass from 60-330 on the radials, actually probably faster than on big tires. Because normally if you are 6 slow in the 60ft, you will definitely be more than 6 slow at the stripe. So he was putting some real shit to it on radials after the 60ft and it takes it because the tire is round and not distorted. That's is the "shake zone" on big tire cars with power as the tire can't make up it's mind if it wants to stick or spin and you always have checks in the graph showing that. It takes REAL power and a master at power management to keep from sticking the tire a bit from hit to 330 on a big tire car. I personally have NEVER seen a slick tire graph that looked like a radial graph. Not saying it can't be done. Just saying I can't and have never seen one either
Great information! Thanks for sharing your insight!

^^ real talk

Fofo when are you getting to the track again?

After your next trip can you show us what the changes you made are? Also when you go, if the 2 kits being turned on faster/closer together, and the retard limiting works and you still look to have the ability to throw more at it, can you/will you make an attempt to turn on your big kit first and just that one kit, banked with a .2 split right off the brake?

I am curious, and honestly feel that you will be able to turn this system on first, which should really light the car up.

JL, our next event is Sept. 3 at a 10.5W 1/8 Heads Up deal, not a Test N Tune day. It will be a late day / night race, & the conditions will be slick, with air temp about 95*, track temp 120*, & GOW 120. Not conducive to a quick ET, but rather an "A to B" priority kinda day. Money race, winner take all. We will likely have time for 1 test hit, & then Eliminations. My game plan is really simple. IF it does not lose the tire on launch, & makes a clean run, it should be high 4.50s on same soft 2 stage tune. IF it does that, I will assess the competition, & decide if I want to run it that way, or take the risk of introducing the 3rd stage. IF the 3rd stage is introduced, it will be via the Leash, & banked, probably as early as .50 & .70, & as late as to .70 & .90. I have no doubt that 4.50s & a .400 PT RT of about .020 will take home the $$$$.

I have no problem sharing our results.

Thank you.

Good luck Ronnie!

End of last season set the record for snapped axle's and D-shafts & rears ..... think 8 total in a day:p

Love the car too ... how bout throwing up a whole bunch of pics? Maybe a before n after kinda thing :D

^^^ Thanks. I will post some Photos of our last 6 months projects on the car. Thes include a New Paint job, New custom Wing by Ed Quay, New Front Cap with Crome Bumper, New Front Hoop, New Ron Davis Radiator, Leash n20 controller installation & wiring, lowering the car, Switch Panel LED lights, N20 Test switch & LED Lights, etc. My two Friends / Crew Members, Chad & Jeff, deserve all of the credit on many of these projects, along with Jason Wood at Wizard Racing, & paint & body by Sean Landry, who painted the Golf Cart to match the car. Yep, I am about $15,000 lighter.
