Go for the vp113 and ull pick up even more et, and be priced closer to the sunoco prices

 

How much should VP113 go for ?
I was talking to the fuel guy at the track and he asked if I wanted to try some as they had it laying aound for awhile and it wasn't selling. He told me the 5 gallon can was normally $90 but they would probably give it to me for $60 something. Was I being yanked ?
C-12 as a comparison is $75 for 5 gallons now.

 

Well prices all depend on your area, but $90 is complete bullshit. Even $60 is high, but then again im not in your area and i don't know the east costs prices.

$90 might be on the Vp Retail sheet, but no one follows that. As for prices in our area, you can see on our website what they go for. I would continue to look around, from what i learned over the last few years prices at the Tracks are hands down the highest.

 

any difference in these 2 fuels ? using in a 360 mopar 12-1 steel heads. car picked up with the c12 over 110, but c12 was $11.50 and can get the sonoco for $8.05 a gal.

You'll sometimes see a pick up from one race fuel brand to another , and from one octane to a higher one as in your case . If your combo picked up by using a higher octane , then try some 112 octane race fuels . But check out different brands because that seems like a pretty big jump in price .

 

Oh and both fuels we tested were the same MON and Specific Gravity. We also tuned too, When we moved the tune up they both slow down

 

I get Sonoco 112 at my local track for $7.50 a gal.

 

I just paid $8.25/gallon for purple Sunoco at Norwalk yesterday. Last I looked at my home track it was $9.00/gallon.

We picked up just under .1 in ET on the Camaro with VP C12

The newest combo we had in it, never did run C12 and it ran 10.13-10.22 @131-133mph, I think C12 would have been 10.0's but we had tested the two a year before this (2007 or early 2008)

 

Which 110 did you test ? Renegade 110 has the same Motor Octane as C-12 and an SG thats almost identical , but i'm not familier with any 110s that have the same SG as C-12 .

 

We used the Sunoco Blue and VP C12

I never did run purple, I have made better power on pump gas than purple when pump gas was good 10 years ago or so

I will look for my reports, 100LL Av Gas checked the same as Sunoco Blue. It did have one additive to help cold starts. They were tested on the same MON and %'s when we had it tested. VP was better on paper too

Never heard of the fuel in your signature. Is it Torco? I never liked their purple I tried because it had a bad sulfer smell

 

Since my race out at the Olds powered nationals at Norwalk I've switched to Sunoco as that's the only brand Norwalk sells and I only had 5 gallons of C-12 with me for the three days I was out there. I've run the Sunoco once since then back here in NJ and going on similar weather data from last season the car ran the just about the same on C-12 as it did on Sunoco purple.
I might try some A/B/A testing before my next race and see what the results are. If I was still spraying the car I would definately still use the C-12 but I think the car runs fine on the Sunoco. While VP makes an excellent fuel, for my car I can't justify the extra $6 a gallon. If I had crazy compression, lot's of nitrous or was concerned about extracting every millionth of a horsepower then maybe I would. But I bracket race to have fun, price and consistency mean more to me.

 

No , the fuel isn't Torco . Torco went out of business , the employees bought the company and re-named it Competition Race Fuels . It went under also recently . There is a start-up company claiming to be the original Torco , but they're just producing a knock off of the original i'm told .

Who owns Renagade? Asking as I have never used it but not saying it is not good.

My buddy ran that high end crap in his street car running 7.80's with a 615cid engine, It ran best with Rocket Brand (Yellow)
