Tube & Fin or Stack Plate remote mount trans cooler for Turbo 400

This maybe a topic that has been thoroughly discussed but in my research, I didn't find a super clear answer. Looking to install a remote mount transmission cooler since I'm out of space up front. Thinking either a tube & fin Derale 13700 or a stacked plate Derale 13760. Seems to be the consensus is that the stacked plate is a far more efficient heat exchanger but this style of cooler also increases the charge pressure (talked to a few top trans guys and heard this feedback). Called Derale and they said in their testing, they didn't see any pressure change.

Wondering what real-world experiences are out there with either of these.

Application is a Turbo 400, Ford 9", E85 GN w/ 76 mm. Very light street duty, more planning to be for the strip.

I've run the 13700 on a TH350 and TH400 in the past and I have another one here to put on my new build with a PG. I've never had an issue with them struggling to cool the fluid.

I think it was like $100 difference in price? For me personally the difference bought me some AN fittings and lines to plumb up the tube and fin set-up.......

If you're running a turbo car and sitting on the trans-brake the biggest/best cooler you can find is what you want - period. Otherwise it is less critical and you have more options depending on your application.

I have been running the Tru-cool Max cooler shown below for over 10 years and I also route my fluid thru the radiator cooler. You can buy that cooler for $120-$140.

Thanks for the response, did you mount that up front near the radiator where there is airflow? Assuming not a remote mount as I don't see a fan.

When I first built my car money was tight so I went with a tube and fin remote cooler made by Derale. It never really cooled that well and would get pretty warm driving on the street which was very limited at the time. After I smoked the trans few years back (nothing to do with the cooler) I changed over to a stacked plate cooler and fan (Derale). Temp never goes past 170. Cools way better as far as I can tell. I never thought it would have made that much of a difference but it did.

We haven't had any cooling problems with this mounted in the trunk and -8 lines. Just changed to the PTFE lines.
