For what it is worth. I was at bessel motorsports a couple of months back when Jon Kaase called in an order for 6 SBF blocks with there new Bessel splayed cap design installed on each block. I believe when you see how these caps lock to the block you will be impressed as was jon kaase. These guys are going to be at PRI next month. They fly Stroker kits . com banner at their booth.Or call Ron or jason @ 636 946 4747

I think the trick to making them work is starting with the 69 to 74 blocks. Zero balanced, studs, girdle, filled, and keeping the rpms low. Out of all the power adders the turbo is the easiest on the rotation assembly.

Next rebuild I will be curious to see my bearing and cap registers. Shooting for 8s this spring, already been 9.47 @ 3200lbs supercharged at 11lbs on a 393.

we have always filled the ones we are trying to go fast with up to the water pump holes and we also install 4 bolt caps from pro gram , the straight bolt ones . if you look at the early blocks 69-74 you can see that they have a boss there just like the cleveland blocks for the outer bolt , a splayed cap wont work because it wont have anything to grab into.

we have a 95 lightning roller block with a 76 making right at 700 rwhp in a 89 coupe at 3100lb. its been 9.40s at 145ish. no block filler, no splayed caps, no main support. we r gonna try for another 100 or so hp and ill let u know when it pukes the guts out. for what its worth i think the turbo stuff is a little easier than the blower or nitrous stuff for sure. hope this helps,Ryan

We made enough on two different cars to run 5.0's in the 1/8 at 2900lbs with turbos. We half filled the blocks, used the Canton girdles, line hone them and had plenty of piston clearance. Both blocks lasted a year. one finally broke. Now running Dart blocks at 4.7's.

I've found that the main girdles hurt the blocks more than they help. The caps don't like being sandwiched between the block and girdle. The girdles promote cap walking, and will also crack the block in the main bolt holes. Best thing to do with a stock block, is get an early model block, put splayed caps and main studs in it. I've had several live at 1000+ hp. Just have to make sure that you don't detonate.

I've built several roller blocks w-just a steel main support making 700-800 fwhp no problems so far. and there driven on the street as well as raced almost every weekend. I think the main thing weather blown turbo or nitrous is your tune-up do everything you can to prevent detonation and it should live a long time.
