I've always loved these cars...

What is the current minimum weight?

Anyone know what they're making for power?

They have been pretty innovative with what they are doing with the heads. Basically, they have been opening up the intake ports a whole lot to support much higher RPM's along with some very innovative improvements in valve train geometry.

The intake (and exhaust) runners still have to meet a maximum cc number. You can port and shape all you want in Super Stock, but you cannot make the runners larger in cc's than the blueprint specs submitted by Chrysler to the NHRA. One of the ways they accomplish this is by milling down the intake side of the heads until they just barely get into the valve cover bolts which is the limit based on the rule book.

Its all about optimizing gearing to keep the engine in power band and minimize RPM drop. Dont know if most would have enough track to pull 5th....

They changed the rules for manual trans in SS racing a number of years ago. can run any 4 or 5 speed, even clutch less liberty, just no planetary trans like Lencos allowed.

They aren't making 1100HP. I built the car in the video above, and I've seen the dyno sheets from Reher Morrison. They make amazing power, but it's not as much as you think. The trick has been getting them to make smooth, non-peaky HP, and to make the cars as efficient as possible. That's a 3200 lb. 4 speed car on a 13" wide tire that went 1.19 60' on that run. That's getting it. And if we had 5 speeds.....man, that would be ugly.

Racer3207 is correct. From the NHRA Rule Book for Super Stock:

TRANSMISSION, Manual
OEM or NHRA-accepted aftermarket transmissions having same
number of forward speeds (O.D. gear not required) as original,
and reverse, may be used. All gear changes must result from
direct action by the driver. Pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, etc.
shifters prohibited. Floor shift-conversion kits permitted.
Clutchless transmissions permitted. If any engine/manual
transmission combination is listed in the class blueprint
specification as being available with only a three-speed manual
transmission, it may be replaced with any four-speed manual
transmission. See General Regulations 2:12.

Wolk and Daniels are closer to number estimated above with Wallace calculator…

Didn't know R/M hp figures and even though I fronted Bucky the cf nose off my AH car after his mishap last season, Line Hemi Hp numbers and everything else in that camp are highly guarded secrets!! At Indy Line Hemi had upper hand on everyone….

CW said his dyno showed a tad over 1k. Also claimed his dyno was conservative.

That is correct on the efficiency. Most SS/Stock Eliminator cars don't add when you put them into the online calculators.

And yes, bucky was impressive at Indy, but everyone forgets Hebert went 159 off the trailer at Indy first session. Had some engine gremlins bite us but RM had the most power there. Just a shame we didn't get a chance to show it. But that's Indy. It's more of a grind than a one-hit-wonder show. That was a disappointing week for sure.

These things are just heavy Comp cars. Heck, they are heavy steel headed 440 ci Pro Stock cars, if you ask me. Some of the most impressive performance I have ever been around

Thanks. Those number look very low / good. I do not have very many numbers from cars around that time and am not sure how correct they are. But for a '70 Chevelle I have CD .42 and frontal area 25.5
