Getting ready to install a Stroud Blanket on a TH400.....Anyone incorporating some sort of channel, spacer, or ?, to keep the blanket from interfering with the movement of the shift lever/cable? I kinda figured it would have had a cutout around the shifter shaft/cable bracket to allow them to be outside of the blanket.

The Stroud blanket covers the trans case from the rear of the belhousing back to the tailshaft housing, the shift lever/cable are under the cover. I'm sure it works (doesn't bind the shifter/cable assembly) I just don't like the idea of the blanket getting tore up from rubbing against the shift lever/cable. Seems like they should have just put a "eyelet" for the shifter shaft to pass thru, and a slot for the bracket. I'm sure if I was to alter the blanket (do these modifications) it would void the SFI Cert.

Preventing rubbing on that style blanket makes sense. Might be pissible to make a sheet metal guard to cover the shift arm area so when blanket lays over the movement of the arm does not rub on the blanket. Perhaps as simple as an “L” that mounts to case and stands off enough to clear the arm? Would not be complicated to bend in a vise if you do not have access to a brake.

Build a nerf bar setup to keep the blanket off the linkage etc but will allow the straps to be tight. It was all in this forum at one time. If I get time I will look and see if I can bring the pics to the front page.

Yes, I did a quick search before making my post......figured I wasn't the first person to experience this issue. If you could find that info Hutch, it would be appreciated.

If I was to make alterations to the blanket, would that void the SFI cert.?

This is a very crude model but gets one idea across. Making the rounded 0.060” sheet metal face is easy if you have a band saw and a 20 to 50 ton press. Flat
sheet with a flange is very strong and lightweight. The horizontal pan rail mount would be welded to the guard face. The pan rail mount would be notched to fit around shifter arm and the window cut large enough to accommodate the swing of the rooster comb arm.

Thought I'd post some pics of what I ended up with, figured they might help someone in the future.

It still would be better if the blanket was just made with a small eyelet to go around the shifter shaft, and a small slit to allow the cable bracket to slip thru.......DONE!

I don't think either would compromise the blankets ability to do it's job. Can't understand why it's up the the end user to fix/overcome design issues of a product.
