All this time and I've never even heard of this engine. Apparently it was offered as a T/A 303-incher, as a 400 crate engine (for $2000; 200 were built) and this 366" version that was slated for NASCAR use. The 366 included Carillo rods, tunnel port heads, 15:1 compression, 800 Holley, a 9100rpm redline and 585hp - in 1969. Pretty salty little motor for the time.
It was never a regular production engine and as time went on, the SD455 replaced it and by 1975, Pontiac's performance was neutered down to a catalytic converter choked 200hp (455 Trans Am, I owned one). I loved the 70s for rock music but they sucked as far as performance vehicles.
