Jim Reed won a Nascar GN race on 7/19/1958 and the Buffalo Bills NFL team used to play there. Coney Island Velodrome - Brooklyn, NY (Coney Island) 1/8-mile wood oval (1932 and 5/28/39 - 8/10/40) The Velodrome was built for bicycle racing and had 45 degree banked corners. Midgets and motorcycle races were held in 1932. ___________________________________________

Glen Aubrey Raceway - Glen Aubrey, NY >(1951 - 1968) The track was located State Route 26 in Glen Aubrey which was a little northwest of Binghamton and for most of it's life it was a Friday night track which ran in conjunction to Chemung from 1951-1955 under the Finger Lakes Racing Association. In 1956 the track switched allegiances to the Southern Tier Stock Car Association and ran that way until 1961 when it dropped the coupes and ran a form of Pure Stocks until it's demise in 1968 due to horrible mismanagement. It was not uncommon to have upwards of 150-200 cars in the one class during the mid 60's which included all forms of cars including Cadillacs, Hudson's, Lincolns and of course Chevys and Fords. Indy Car mechanic Lew Parks started his career there as a car owner for URC driver Bryant Ingalls. The track ran a URC race in 1963 and 1964 and they were won by Ingalls in 1963 and Red Reigel in the Werglund Chevy in 1964. The site is now a Trailer Park. ___________________________________________

Ithaca-Dryden Speedway - NY 1/2-mile dirt oval (1950's - 1970's) The track was located on Route 13 between Ithaca and Dryden. Ithaca-Dryden ran as a companion track to Skyline Raceway in Blodgett Mills. ___________________________________________
Maple Grove Speedway - Waterloo, NY (aka: Waterloo Speedway, Seneca County Fair Speedway) 1/2-mile dirt oval (1921 - 1941, 1946 - 1971 and 1976 - 1977) The track was located at the Seneca County Fairgrounds. ___________________________________________
Midstate Speedway - NY 1/2-mile dirt oval ( - 1972) Midstate was a regular stop for a number of cars from both the Southern Tier and the Capitol district. The track was a big narrow 1/2-mile Fairgrounds track with a covered grandstand and looked like a big paper clip. The track hosted the first ever Syracuse qualifier that was won by Dick Hansen. ___________________________________________

Races were ran on the warning track of the field while the track was a 1/4-mile dirt oval. The 6/5/48 race held 25,000 spectators in attendance for racing on the 1/5-mile wood oval built of aluminum and wood promoted by Alexis Thompson. Ed Otto promoted racing during the 50's on the 1/4-mile paved oval that was built after the baseball team moved to San Francisco, CA. ___________________________________________
Tri-Cities Drag-way - Endicott, NY 1/4-mile paved dragstrip (1962 - 1969) The drag strip was located on an airport. ___________________________________________
Twin Valley Raceway - Chenango Forks, NY 1/2-mile dirt oval (1970 - 1972) The track was located just of Route 12 and closed over a dispute between the track owner and the lessee shut the track down. Twin Valley was a big 1/2 mile dirt track and on ran both Fridays and Sundays. ___________________________________________
Victoria Speedway - Guilderland, NY 1/2-mile dirt oval (Aug. 26, 1960 - June 29, 1966) (A practice was rained out on Aug. 19, 1960 after some hot laps.) The track was located 12 miles west of Albany on US 20, located near Sharp's Corners. It was a horse track on the Victoria Acres Horse Farm.

Jim Reed won a Nascar GN race on 7/19/1958 and the Buffalo Bills NFL team used to play there. Glen Aubrey Raceway - Glen Aubrey, NY >(1951 - 1968) The track was located State Route 26 in Glen Aubrey which was a little northwest of Binghamton and for most of it's life it was a Friday night track which ran in conjunction to Chemung from 1951-1955 under the Finger Lakes Racing Association. In 1956 the track switched allegiances to the Southern Tier Stock Car Association and ran that way until 1961 when it dropped the coupes and ran a form of Pure Stocks until it's demise in 1968 due to horrible mismanagement. It was not uncommon to have upwards of 150-200 cars in the one class during the mid 60's which included all forms of cars including Cadillacs, Hudson's, Lincolns and of course Chevys and Fords. Indy Car mechanic Lew Parks started his career there as a car owner for URC driver Bryant Ingalls. The track ran a URC race in 1963 and 1964 and they were won by Ingalls in 1963 and Red Reigel in the Werglund Chevy in 1964. The site is now a Trailer Park. ___________________________________________

Ithaca-Dryden Speedway - NY 1/2-mile dirt oval (1950's - 1970's) The track was located on Route 13 between Ithaca and Dryden. Ithaca-Dryden ran as a companion track to Skyline Raceway in Blodgett Mills. ___________________________________________
Maple Grove Speedway - Waterloo, NY (aka: Waterloo Speedway, Seneca County Fair Speedway) 1/2-mile dirt oval (1921 - 1941, 1946 - 1971 and 1976 - 1977) The track was located at the Seneca County Fairgrounds. ___________________________________________
Midstate Speedway - NY 1/2-mile dirt oval ( - 1972) Midstate was a regular stop for a number of cars from both the Southern Tier and the Capitol district. The track was a big narrow 1/2-mile Fairgrounds track with a covered grandstand and looked like a big paper clip. The track hosted the first ever Syracuse qualifier that was won by Dick Hansen. ___________________________________________

Polo Grounds - New York City, NY 1/4-mile dirt oval (1940 - 1942) 1/5-mile wood oval (6/5/48 and 6/8/48) 1/4-mile paved oval (8/28/58 - 9/12/59) The Polo Grounds was located where the New York Giants baseball team used to play. Races were ran on the warning track of the field while the track was a 1/4-mile dirt oval. The 6/5/48 race held 25,000 spectators in attendance for racing on the 1/5-mile wood oval built of aluminum and wood promoted by Alexis Thompson. Ed Otto promoted racing during the 50's on the 1/4-mile paved oval that was built after the baseball team moved to San Francisco, CA. ___________________________________________
Tri-Cities Drag-way - Endicott, NY 1/4-mile paved dragstrip (1962 - 1969) The drag strip was located on an airport. ___________________________________________
Twin Valley Raceway - Chenango Forks, NY 1/2-mile dirt oval (1970 - 1972) The track was located just of Route 12 and closed over a dispute between the track owner and the lessee shut the track down. Twin Valley was a big 1/2 mile dirt track and on ran both Fridays and Sundays. ___________________________________________
Victoria Speedway - Guilderland, NY 1/2-mile dirt oval (Aug. 26, 1960 - June 29, 1966) (A practice was rained out on Aug. 19, 1960 after some hot laps.) The track was located 12 miles west of Albany on US 20, located near Sharp's Corners. It was a horse track on the Victoria Acres Horse Farm.
