any feedback on this unit? normal harry homeowner stuff
I bough one a grade better about a year ago, the Pump is a little beefier. So far no issues with 100 hours of run time. That being said I learned a lesson with a Craftsman. I mounted a whole house sediment filter on this one. Rebuilt the pump on the Craftsman several times while hardly ever using it.

Pressure washers are hard on engines. More hp is better, and 6hp or 212cc would be a minimum. The Northern is only 163cc or about 4hp. I agree that a horizontal engine is better than a vertical for a pressure washer.

I like this unit because replacement engines cost very little.

Not true if it has a Honda motor, the motor will outlast the pump...Nothing much better than a 5 hp Honda, cat pump and 4000 psi 4+ gpm... I've used this combination daily for years with normal maintenance only...

My dad has 1 of their gas jobs that he bought in the very early 80s. The only thing he has done is change the oil and plug and 1 recoil starter.

I had a 120v unit from northern with a cat pump and it ran great with no problems. It had "down stream" injection and I always used ran a chemical through it with no problem. I used it for about 6 years and just sold it to my buddy for $200. I upgraded to a 220v unit that I had custom built. My new 220 unit is much better than the 120 unit just because it moves more water. GPM is better than psi.

If you are going to use it a lot, I would suggest electric. It is much more convenient than gas...just turn the water on and flip the switch. Also, if you get one from northern you will want more hose. They only come with 25' and that is nowhere near enough.

around the house with small jobs, 5 horse 4 gpm and 3-4000 psi is all you need. I had a tip to shoot 3 stories with so what would you need anything bigger than that?

But if you want to go there we also had a van with a 16 horse, 4 gpm/4000 psi with heat and a 16'trailer with a 26 horse with 5.2 gpm with heat and 2 300 gallon tanks

I didn't know this thread was about who had the biggest unit:rolleyes:
