Holley HP EFI--having trouble getting the IAC in range

I have a SBF running the HP EFI and I am using the GM IAC motor. I can't seem to get the IAC in the recommended range of ~15% warm idle. When starting (warm or cold) it takes 2-3 seconds of cranking time and often takes a blip of the throttle to start.

It settles in around 35% and is often in the 60-100% returning to idle off the throttle. I have adjusted the throttle blade close to 15% open and then performed a TPS reset, but it did not seem to bring the IAC down.

I was previously running a factor 94 Mustang Cobra ECM with a SCT chip and stock IAC and I had no problems with the idle. Any suggestions? I asked for a IAC for a 87 Buick if it makes any difference.

I thought it was 3% at operating temp?
My understanding was anything under 15% was acceptable, the closer to zero the better I assume.
As 2stroke & S2H mentioned, an IAC Position closer to zero (at hot idle) is beneficial for idle quality. Also, the engine will start a lot better too.

open the blade further.....
or drill a hole in the TB if you cant open the blade any further...

you want the hot idle IAC value as close to zero as possible
I like to see it at 0 when idle is about 200 rpm below desired value(if possible to hold it there)...example being if idle is set at 1000, I like to temporarily set it to 800 and open the throttle till I see 0 with ever so slight movement once in a while.
then set idle back to 1000 in the tune and it should be just about perfect.
you will see 0%~5% Iac...


cranking issue may also partly be in the cranking fuel table..
you can pretty much set the IAC park position to be 100 at cold start and have a gentle curve down to somewhere near 50 at hot start and it will fire up right away once you get the cranking fuel close
may still need to tweak after start enrichment and main fueling tables to keep it running, but it should fire for a few moments when the fueling is correct and IAC/throttle blade is correct.

also, you can test if your IAC motor is working or not with a simple test.
remove it from the throttle body so you can see it
and you can set the park position to 0 for all points, and just turn the key on...you should see it move to the closed position
then set it to 100 and do the same thing, you should now see it move to the full open position...

if it doesnt move, then its defective
