I did that. I think it has something to do with the pump drive, it was hard going into the transmission, it was just rebuilt with a new converter seal but i have never had to fight one in or have it hard to turn like this.
Sounds like the pump bushing isn't sized correctly for the converter drive hub. There's a bushing directly behind the seal the hub passes through for converter installation. Pull the pump, split it and scotch brite the bushing to size.

It's either that or you have a bellhousing misalignment.

So, I had to do the same when I installed the re-stalled converter..Then last night I started the engine put it in gear (the first time since I installed the engine and converter) and nothing. It seems like doing the "tapping" of the converter hurt the pump. The trans worked before that..

We removed the pump etc and it was OK, I think I placed the blame too quickly on Freakshow. The problem was not with the converter, the dipstick tube was the wrong size for the pan causing a lack of fluid situation. When we re-installed the the converter it actually fit much better this time. There was no need to "tap" in the converter.. Perhaps when I ran the engine it loosened something up..

you have a problem. never heard of them
just because you have never heard of them don't make them a bad converter, I had one for a low power 302, it was great then built a decent 393w with 2x the power, I sent it to him , he asked what I was doing with the car, motor specs, car specs , bracket racing etc.. I wanted a spragless converter , paid like $100 , made some passes and broke my rear end and thought I hurt the converter , sent it back to him , he cut it apart , all was good but did loosen it up a hair...he charged me $0 to do that and no shipping $...converter stalled exactly where he said and flashed where he said it would, now at my power level it worked great, so I cant say how well one will be at 800-up HP...I know that he offers several different levels , race -billet covers and clutches etc, stators..bla bla

I took it out to the track had no issues with the trans etc, the best 60ft so far was a 1.630 and a 1/8 mile ET of 7.145@97. I might have to get it re-stalled again though but I want to get more data before I do that.

My son bought a 8" from them and picked up 2/10's in the 1/8 mile over the 8" PTC we had in it. Went from high 6.30's in 3500 ft da air to 6 teens in the same air. No motor changes. Rebuilt the glide and changed the converter. It was so drastic that we had to make minor suspensions changes. Got 3 race sessions on it now and no problems and we didnt have to shim the converter at all either. It was perfect straight from them. We told them we ran a glide and ultrabell and done.................perfect.
