I'm getting ready to put the Rustoleum Epoxy floor coating in my race trailer. For those of you that have used it, did you prime the floor first or just paint it on over the bare plywood? Trailer is new so there aren't any oil spots or anything on the floor.

I did my garage floor with it and then used what was left over to do the trailer floor. Unfortunately, I came up about 4 feet short. All I did was sweep the floor and use a hand held blower. Rolled it on with a standard paint roller and threw some flakes in it as I went (so I could reach). I have ATV's in and out of it more than vehicles and it still looks pretty damned good. Better than my garage floor actually. That has come off in spots

I put Epoxycoat down on a plywood porch floor. I went straight to the floor. That was like seven years ago, and it still looks fantastic.

With Plywood, you shouldn't need to sand it, but it will make for a flatter surface and might look a little nicer (??). If you're going to use the color-flecks, I would consider clear coating afterward. I have had epoxy-coat in my garage for years, the coating stands up to just about anything, but the flecks will melt if hit with harsh solvents (brake cleaner, carb cleaner, gasoline). clear coating it will encapsulate them. Just re-did my garage this weekend with a clear coat. Looks amazing. Clear coat with Rustoleum Easyclear; it will leave a high-gloss, easy to clean surface.

Thanks for the input gentlemen. I'll just apply it directly over the cleaned plywood. I have aluminum strips to put down where the tires will roll/sit to help with the rears pulling the epoxy up, which seems to be a problem if the car sits there a while. I'll try to remember to take some before and after shots.

I used the Rustoleum epoxy paint on my trailer floor when I first got my trailer in Aug of 2014 and I like it so far. All I did was go over the entire floor with a shop vac and painted it with a roller. It's a 28' trailer and used 2 gallon. Last Winter my car sat in the trailer from Oct til April and it never peeled any of it up.

How is this holding up now? I'm about to take delivery on a new 8x16 cargo trailer with engineered plywood floor and want to coat it. Afraid that whatever I put down will peel up and then ruin the floor.

Way back in the last century!, I bought a gallon of polyurethane, at Lowe’s, then rolled floor and walls will that stuff. Tires never lifted it but, it could get slick from the evening dew. Raced out of that 24 footer for 8 or so years and never had a problem. I even put that shit over the tire tracks, to keeps friends from asking to borrow my moving van!

I used rusteloum one part epoxy on the bare floor and zinnser bullseye primer sealer i tinted for the walls and rusteloum oil base flat black for the trim , so far so good and i used grip tape i got from amazon for the floor seams. I do have a few spots that the tires pulled up the epoxy so the two part is probably the best.

I used this product.

Laid it down over a thinned out coat of automotive epoxy, thinned out to soak into the new plywood. 6 years and it is like new except for some spills. I’ll try and post pics that are on my phone when I get a chance.
