I pulled my motor to have it gone though over the winter. I have a universal fit Ramjet on there now. I hate it. Fits like shit all the way around. Who do you use? I am thinking about a custom fit one from DRE. It's just a stock block BBC in a 2nd Gen Camaro. No motor plate, although I probably could use one of those too.

Thank you sir. I also deal with Pro1 Safety and RJS who provide a more universal style than DJ and they are readily available. Let me know if I can help. Email is best because notifications on here don't always reach me. Check out my website for a full line up of safety gear.

I have a DRE semi-custom for BBC also in a 2nd Gen Camaro (1970) with stock front suspension ,no motor plate .It fits ok , I had them put Kevlar straps on it where they pass under the headers to tie the front of diaper to the rear around the motor mounts after the nylon ones burnt in half. When it was at DRE for the strap "upgrade" I had them make a bit more room around the oil filter . To tell the truth , I am not impressed with it for the almost $500 it cost me.

I've had the same universal fit DRE for years. When it was wet sumped I broke a piece of sheet aluminum in the shape of C Channel . I stuck that on the pan to take up the slack, sounds goofy but it worked. I have the same diaper on my dry sump deal now. It's a PITA to get on but its on there. I called DRE early this year about a custom one and Dennis said it would be too far out on it. If you need a custom one order it now.

He's in Bullhead City AZ
X2. I’ve got one of Russ’s diapers in kevlar. Lightweight, fits like a glove to my Moroso oil pan 20206. Uses quick release buckles for the straps, so oil changes are easy. Great guy to deal with. $188. He’s a racer too.
DRE is way overpriced in my opinion.

DRE ships fast. I got it today. I know which straps you are talking about now. Those are not Kevlar. I can't test fit it because I dropped the motor off yesterday to be gone through. Having said that, I don't think that strap will be close to the header tubes as it will sit below the header flange. I have Hedman part# 65105 headers and they don't hug the block there are at all. What headers do you have?

quick heads up......when you mock it up, the diaper is supposed to go behind the starter( between the block and starter). To do this it is best to put diaper on first, then put the starter on when its on the stand then put the motor in the car. Worked best for me anyway, your results may very. After you change the oil you have to deal with the diaper behind the starter issue anyway. Maybe you knew that anyway , no offence meant.

I have a DRE on my race car, got it a few years ago when Dennis was running a deal on Bracket Talk. Got it in Kevlar, I am pretty sure it was around $250. I drop my right rear strap off the back of the head to get the diaper away from the oil filter and drain plug, SBC in a 1988 F-Body. I have Moroso solid motor mounts which act as the lateral limiters for my motor plate. One header tube touches the diaper but has only turned it brown after all these years. Bought another one for my other car but have not put that car back together yet.
