Hello there. I'm curious about any experience with GoPro and drag racing... videos, mounts, and settings. I recently purchased a Hero 10 Black and a roll bar mount. This is my first attempt at a run down the 1/4 mile...

First thing. Get it to view all your gauges at once. Learn your engine/trans/converter from that and verify you have no oil pressure issues or water temp abnormality's. Then converter flash and shift RPM fall back. After you know what it is doing and maximize that info, focus on what you are doing staging, reacting to the lights, shifting, steering. Then get footage of front and rear suspension reaction and tire wrap up leaving the line. Go Pro is kinda like a data logger.

I glued one of their mounts to the bottom of the rear fuel cell can.

I would like to post a video, but my computer imploded a few weeks ago and i can't edit.

I can email if chopper wants to post it.

"One camera is permitted, and it may not be intentionally directed at the racer in the other lane without NHRA permission. Camera must be securely attached to the vehicle with appropriate fasteners. The camera may not be attached with suction cups, wire ties, hose clamps, etc. For any camera mounted externally, all mounting brackets, associated fasteners, hardware, etc. from the camera to the vehicle attachment point must be metal; no plastic or nonmetallic components permitted."

Here is my observations on your launch and run. First pull farther up in the water box to right on the edge of the wet area. you still have a puddle in front of the rear tires when you start your burn out. Second the car is spinning the tires on the leave. The car is trying to pick up the rear tires on the leave and spinning. You need to adjust the suspension to plant the tire. This will pick up your 60 ft times. What is the 60 ft and 330 ft times on that run and ET

I see it's been a while since this was posted, but I'm jumping in to ask—has anyone tried using the GoPro Max for 360 drag racing shots? I'm curious how stable the footage is and if it's worth the extra cost over the Hero series. Also, how are you guys mounting them for the best view without risking the camera on a fast launch?

I switched over a while back and the video quality’s been better, especially in low light. The mounting options feel more solid too. You can check out Insta 360 here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Insta360/page/2A4E9629-9C41-48D0-B37A-F3A6CF3D74D9 . I mounted one on the roll cage facing the driver and another on the bumper, and both held up fine through a few passes. Sound isn’t perfect, but good enough for what I needed.
