That was my initial thought as well. Not a good message to send to future partners. Like taking the crosswalk with a dump truck barreling down on you.....you may be well within your rights, but is it beneficial?

You can count on that one, be like stepping on a dog turd, time for nhra to sell the fucking thing to some one with a fucking desire to promote all racing, instead of fucking the sportsman, any which way they can and do.

 

Can't help but wonder what the contract details are? NHRA cut the # of races so TV coverage and the the advertising that they provide for the sponsorship is down. You would think Coke has the right to cut back on their payments because they received a reduction in product they were buying? I bet there is a breach somewhere that Coke is using as an out. But NHRA is going to make it hard to attract future sponsorship of that caliber.

 

I am sure like any sponsorship, NHRA was to provide xxx television time, xxx time in front of fans etc. and they could not provide this to coke this year. This is one of the reasons Force sat out he could not meet his sponsors ship obligation.
Coke found an out of a losing proposition.

Its a shame but you can't blame Coke, they were not getting what they where paying for.

 

NHRA is sadly. About done. It hurts, but maybe, the next HRA will get it right.

NHRA should have cut them a break since the racing was cut back and they may have been good for another 3 years but they bit the hand that fed em. I'm guessing they didnt

 

but they can't pay those big NHRA management salaries without all that sponsor money...seems they have cut their own throat.

 

NHRA can't out spend Coke. This won't end well for them.

 

That's a fucking fact. I'm sure Coke is revamping their marketing and advertising plans dramatically during this weird period. Good chance for them to jump out and save some big cash and put it into more effective medias.

It will be some big weed company when it’s fully legalized within the next few years.

 

This definitely won't end well for NHRA.. but the attitude of upper management doesn't allow for them to see this.. Bad deal all around.

 

Force Majeure is in every decent contract and I'd bet that Coke's was boilerplate and included pandemics.

Months ago i saw somewhere they needed 12 races to get the Mellow Yello money. After the US Nats they had to cancel one upcoming race and that left a total of 11. They then announced the drastic purse cuts after that. They must think there is a techinicality in the fine print of the contract.

 

I can see it now. NHRA broke, then become so called "woke". ( I guess what ever lie they can dream up to stay alive)

Still get to keep the NHRA name plate for the obvious reason............ Donks....DONKS...EVERYWHERE! with Kentucky Fried Chicken and Mt. Dew as co-sponsor's.
Wonder how long it would be before it is "no ******'s allowed"

I gave up sodas 30 years ago but I can't imagine many people drink enough of that yellow stuff to cover the NHRA sponsorship
