Hi ,
just looking for some feedback on whether Coan is a good transmission - for street/strip use
Looking at their TF727 with steel drum roller rear and transbrake
Price and shipping to Australia seem ok .
Going in a 3700lb Satellite behind a 505ci big block aiming for mid 10's
I know there is also A&A or Cope . ATI will not recommend a 727 , they recommend a T400 - at a large price
any thoughts appreciated

Tex

Coan makes excellent products and there are others that do too. I have a Coan T-400 and their convertor and I am installing them this weekend. Their service and tech people are very good.

Coan is definitely a top notch company and you can't go wrong dealing with them. That said, Rick Alison at A&A is a bad ass dude with a 727. I'm not 100% sure because it's been a while but I think Chrysler contracted him through the 80's to work on torque Flite development. He is what I consider an expert in the field

OP we had a 727 in a Plymouth Fury with a 451cid (looked like a 383) engine, could drive it to the track and it had to weigh over 4,000 pds, beautiful car, small tire and we could all pile in this car, it ran mid to high elevens 1/4 mile. Never a bit of trouble with the 727 shifted on the column BUT I guess I should have inquired do you wanna run 10's, 9's or even 8's by the time it's all said and done before suggesting the 400?

Thanks for your replies . Currently i have run high 10.80's, mostly runs high 10 -flat 11.00 , with the B&M trans in car - have fitted a Griner RMVB and solid front band . I have run this since 2007 . I am hoping to go solid 10.50's with the new 505 . A&A is high dollar especially after converting to Aussie peso . Just looking to future proof the trans , not sure how current trans will like new motor . Though initially it will have to do .
