I bought one years ago, it did not look like the picture. The 4150 pan is pictured with the carb bell as part of the front section. The dominator has a separate bell and then 2 pieces that have to be riveted to the carb bell. I thought it looked like junk so I sent it back. Also it is important to consider what type of hood and clearance you have between the hood and carb before you use an airpan. I have a cowl hood on my car, and tried a forward facing pan to take air from the grill. It didn't work. I was down a tenth in ET and 4 mph.

I have a foward facing scoop. With the 1 inch spacer under the carb the very top of the carb sits right at the opening on the scoop. Now the concern is the air going past the carb on the side. I was think the hood will sit on the form of the pan and trap the air.

I've had one for about 4 or 5 years now. It's still in the box. Someone let me know how well they work, if they do.

As far as how to keep it in place, The hood should seal against the foam tight enough to SEAL the pan to the hood. On a forward type hood scoop a properly sealed pan to the underside of the hood with the scoop plug in place you should be able to see the hood suck down with car running and blipping the throttle.

The hood should be tight enough to press down on the foam and hold the pan in place.

As far as a cowl hood? I haven't seen anything that has helped. And for forward facing, anything under 100 mph really doesn't improve the ram air effect to see gains.

I am planning on running one. I am going to put a very small scoop on top of the 4 inch cowl hood. and cut the opening just above the carb for the air cleaner to stick through the hood but under the scoop. I was hoping to use something like this and let the air cleaner hold it down, but still have the foam seal against the bottom of the hood.
