CAN U WIRE UP A WINCH ON YOUR TRAILER??

W/OUT A BATTERY??? CAN U SPLICE IN THE WIRES???

Or run at leats a 4ga from your battery to the rear pf the truck to tap into, but don't try the trailer wiring harness
Thats what I did. Superwinch sells a kit for it. I ran a 4 g wire from the truck battery to a disconnect mounted under the trucks rear bumper then put the other half of the disconnect on the winch wires.

We ran 10GA from the battery to the center pin on the 7 pin connector, then 10GA on the trailer side to a battery. So when the trailer is plugged in both batterys are tied together (so the truck is charging the trailer battery as we drive down the road). Then off of the trailer battery to the winch, and work lights.

I know this is not what the orgional question was, but just throwing our solution out there for anyone else looking. I agree that if you dont have/want a battery on the trailer the seperate disconnect is the best way to do it.
