Im wrapping up the repairs/rebuild on my C4 finally and was curious about the different clutch clearances for strip apps. Im running 6 alto (ribbed) reds and Kolenes in the high gear pack and 5 alto (smooth) in the forward pack.
The clearances ive got currently are .040 for the high gear and .038 for the forward. My understanding is that .005 per clutch is good for clutch life but around .010 is best for least drag, esp. in the forward pack. Im at about .007 per friction in the high and just shy of .008 per friction on the forward.
I was trying to shoot for the middle as to get a little better clutch life without adding "too" much drag. Just curious if my line of thinking is sound or do i still have work to do lol.
Thanks Ray.
