budget 351 Windsor build the block is a late eighties 351 I plan to use the stock crank in stock rods with a forged set of pistons either flat top or a slight dome the heads I have laying around to go on it or elderbrock performer heads that have been gasket matched and bowl blended but they have the 194 160 valves the cam I have laying around for it is a comp 274 nitrous cam plan on running e85 with a carb set up basically what I'm wondering is with the stock rods and start crank is it better to use a flat top piston and spray a little more are use a dome and run a smaller shot and what time kind of times do you think I can get this thing to run it's going to be going in a fully gutted SN 95 with*a*c4 transmission and a 4000 stall

I can't help too much but I am subscribing. I am doing a '97 Roller 351w right now. Ended up using a full stock rotating because I didn't want to mess with balancing the rotating. I threw a new F-cam in and just installed Double roller timing set. I'm gonna do a Victor Jr, have a Pro Systems carb and a Nitrous Outlet kit for it. The only thing I'm missing is a set of heads and budget is at $1200 for those. Got a C4, 3800-4000 stall and a gutted 85 Notch.

I got one on the stand also.

74 block, stock rods, crank, and some TRW's

Plan is some P heads and a 268 to get 400 out of it and look like a Jasper rebuilder Iron head winsdor, with a plate on it.

Best Windsor budget build is scat 3.85 stroke crank, stock length Windsor hbeams, 302 flat top pistons. It'll get you 12:1 comp plus 392" then throw on your choice of heads.
I build one with iron TFS high ports (heavy but flowed great) and made nearly 600hp with a at tappet cam only turning it 6600rpms.
With a roller cam and victor SR intake I bet it would have made 50-75hp more.

Not sure how well the late model stuff will hold up but I used to run a 74'351w block stock crank and truck rods with the oval bolts .. 69'351w heads 1.94 1.60 valves hand ported .. Cast flat tops 10:1 ran 12:20 @3420lbs and ran 10:94 w/175 shot of juice . Keep the cast pistons no more then 6000rpm range .. With forged Pistons I've been 7400rpm stock crank and rods and block .

Side note were running my 69'351w block and stock crank with eagle H beam rods arp2000 bolts arp main studs with DSS stud griddle diamond 8:5 comp Pistons
Brodix Trk 1 Cnc 225 runner heads . Blow thru carb and YSI Vortech supercharger.
Made 810Hp to the tire @6600rpm .
In a #3150 fox body went 1.24 -60
5:60@124 and 8:77 with best mph 153.35
C4 Trans 3:73 gear x275 radial tire ..
Good luck hope this helps.

I've had a few. One was a stock 69 short block, with ported and milled stock heads (1.94/1.60) xe274 cam and Vic jr. Ran 12.30's in a full weight 67 fastback. 10.90's with a 175 shot.

Currently have a stock 80's 351, stock crank and rods, weisco 13:1 pistons, all arp, old hi ports (300 cfm) vic jr, and 264 @ 0.050 solid roller. Car ran 10.50's spinning 7500 rpm. On a .073 jet in and edelbrock rpm plate, went some 6.0's in the 1/8. In a gutted 85 hatchback. Too much gear for the 1/4 (4.56)......

If the tune up is decent, a stock Windsor is pretty tough.
