If you keep the same compression, cam and cubic inch and just change the heads how much power difference is it worth? I'm talking about if both heads flow the exact same amount. The reason I'm asking is it seems like there is alot more classes to run in with conventional heads. I'm talking about 18* heads verses conventional. Thanks for any input.

I can't answer with a whole lot of knowlege on the subject, but it's my understanding you're bolting on about 100-150 hp depending on the head and the work done to it. The big difference is the quality of the flow and the shorter angle on the valves helps them breath better, or something like that..............

What fuel?

There is some really good conventional heads out there right now!!!! But you need to figure out what class you would like to run frist, then go from there.
Also, there is alot of $$$$$ involved in switching over to Big chief head...... Good luck

I already have the Big Chiefs and the tunnel ram to go with it, they have been cnc'd and have titanium valves. They were done by a guy who does alot of pro stock stuff, I have a ton of money in them and they are brand new. I was just thinking it seems like there is more classes for conventional stuff.

I always thought that the Cam specs for a Degreed head were far different from that of a Conventional because of the amount of air they move so the Cam Lifters Pushrods and Rockers would have to be changed also and you better have a good bottom end because it will prob need to rev higher than the conventional setup to maxamize hp:confused:

was worth 1 tenth on my car at the most..was a single carb though..i found me a dart tunnel ram to try to see if the single carb is limiting it.

with some of the new 24* heads out there you could very well lose power... the cams, intake, pistons, rockers and pushrods will be way different between the two.

I already have everything, I just wanted to see the power difference between the two. I didn't understand why they are not allowed in some classes when conventional heads are flowing the same amount.
