What are the best solid roller lifters out there for street strip application. .842 .750 wheel. Needle bearing or bushing.

Bullet solid roller BBC lifters are Morel with Bullet's name on them. There are a very limited number of Morel distributors. They can have their name put on tie bar lifters if they desire. Morel 4845 solid roller lifters have worked well for years in race engines I have worked with. Don't see why they would give trouble on the street any more than others.

I have over 600 passes on bushed Isky Red Zones. They were just inspected at 550 passes. The body hasn't spread at the axles. The bushings show no disernible wear. 305 seat / 810 open. The oil gets changed once a year. (about 100 passes).

I have had Isky bushed lifters in my engine for about 10 yrs. Mate that drag races also uses them. Zero problems.
If you don't me asking, what open valve spring pressures are/were you guys running with the Isky Red Zone lifters? This is a sincere question on my part. Not trying to be a wise guy. I'm considering the Isky Red Zones myself. That's why I ask. If you don't know what spring pressures you're running, then please make mention of how much lift at the valves you have. Thanks

Biggest thing i feel is gonna be proper cam lobe and light valvetrain to keep spring loads down. I ran morels on the street in my bbc at 300 seat 800 open and killed them in no time. I dont if they went more than couple hundred miles. Lot more idle and low speed use but spread a few forks and lost a wheel on one.
Went to a different cam lobe and conical spring for 135 lb seat 500’s open, with isky redzone max lifters and havent had an issue since with alot more passes and street time on them.

And I'll bet that Morel blamed YOU for the problem, if you even were honored to have someone at Morel even speak to you.....
One thing I've personally found with Morel, "It is never Morels problem!", no matter what happened, it is the installers fault..

When Morel designed the Bushing lifter for Mclaren/Buick in the late 80's early 90's it was not because they were having lifter issues, it was was the rare case when the did it was catastrophic as the drivers would hear it and a V-6 Indy Buick engine that was $250K was a pile of junk.

McLaren contacted Joe and Ed Morel to come up with a solution. After 4 years of development work they were issued a patent for a bushed lifter. Then shortly after Buick was out of Indy.

Bushing lifters will cost you a small amount of power, but they are is a safety factor for those that may not be in tune to the sound of a lifter going South. If you have to run an offset lifter in an .842" body, then due to side loading you are better off with a bushing style lifter.

Morel has since discontinued their bushing and gone with Mamba series of lifters. No needles, no bushings. The oversized axle... .470" is fixed and has a dedicated oil circuit that feeds oil directly out of the axle and creates an oil wedge between the axle and wheel. We learned in 4th grade science you can't compress liquids.

On a side note the NASCAR teams don't run bushings...They run needles. Hendrick has trusted Morel lifters since 2005.
