In the market for a new Helmet and been narrowing it down to either the Simpson carbon fiber or the race quip brand. I've used Simpson suits and belts chute etc but never the helmets. Any experience with them or the racequip brand? Fit issues, comfortable etc? Or should I look at others that are compatible? Thanks

I've wondered where the Racequip helmets are made and how good of a helmet they are considering the price. I've had a Simpson Super Bandit helmet and it's been a good one but I need to upgrade at the end of the year. Also looking at their carbon helmets and seeing how they feel. There's a few that are not made in US from Simpson but most are. They have an American flag icon beside the helmet on their site to let you know if it's made here or not. I would wait until the new SNELL updates take place in October unless helmet certs don't have an effect on you or you need one now.

No the certs really dont affect me, just was wanting to upgrade. I'm letting my nephew get use to racing more and was going to let him use the helmet I got now and was going to get me a new one. I'm not sure if the racequips are made here or not and honestly I didnt think you check until you mentioned it lol

I've had a few different helmets. G-Force and Bell were some of the worst fitting for me. The Impact Champ has been the best fitting, most comfortable helmet I've ever owned... For some reason, Simpson never seemed to have the right size. They were either slightly large or slightly small....

Yeah I kinda figured that. Really liking some of the Impact helmets. And I like the racequip one with the American flag on it but it's not DOT approved or SFI. Not that my local track checks any of that but some of the big money races do.

I saw your last post about this helmet and had a minute to reply again. SFI does not approve helmets for racing. DOT helmets are NOT for racing. IF you are racing you want an SA rated helmet just like the one with the flag. Here is the link to it on my site. It looks like you might have some misinformation or not know what to ask. Here is a link to it on my site.

I bought a RaceQuip (the one that looks like the Bandit) couple years ago and I really like it. Had a Bell before it. The Bell was slightly tighter (size Large on both). The RaceQuip comes with thicker/thinner removable ear to chin pad. And the mirror tint visor doesn't fog up like my bell did sometimes. I just like using the visor at all times during the day.

I have an HJC helmet. I really like it. I have a really big head and had to find a helmet locally that I could try on and check the fit. The local shop had Bell HJC and a few other brands. The Bell would not fit my head. The HJC fit very nice and was comfortable. This is the second one I have purchased and would recommend it. Mine has a Snell 2015 cert.

I'm a big fan of RJS Racing equipment,.....especially their Helmets. I've been using one for a couple of years. For the money,...they are hard to beat. Not to mention,.....made in the good Ol' USA.

The RJS helmets are not made in the USA any longer. I am a dealer for them. The cost of making them and the chemicals and the EPA put a halt to them being cost competitive, but I don't object to their helmets at all. The Racequip Carbon Fiber Vesta15 I have had good luck and positive feedback from the customers. Keep in mind it is a composite with CF and Kevlar. That's why it's not $800+. One thing that is nice about them is they include extra cheek pads in a little thicker size to help get a custom fit for you. Keep an eye on the rating the SA rating is for racing and those helmets have been tested for repeated side impacts, like against a roll cage, unlike the other ratings such as an M. Let me know if I can help. You can contact me through my site and email since my internet provider doesn't send me notifications that messages are here for me.

You can view the helmets I sell that are on my site here. I can almost always do better for YB members.

Wait a few months and grab a SA2020 helmet. You will be able to pass tech with the helmet for 12 years. If you buy the SA2015 you will need to buy a new helmet in 7 years. I have had a bandit since 2010 and at first i didnt really like the helmet, felt too tight and constricting but after the first season it broke in nice and I really like it. I will be replacing it with a carbon bandit when it is time.
