9" S-Trac or Wavetrac?

I've done some searching on here but nothing very recent has turned up. I'm building a 72 Camaro street/strip car which will be about 90% street use. Mini tubbed, 4 link, caged car with a trans brake. Full weight in the neighborhood of 3200-3400lbs. At first it will be around 900 flywheel hp but would like to build in some "headroom" in the parts that matter for power numbers around 1000 at the wheel eventually.

I have a Quick Performance 9" braced and gusseted, I need to order my third member now. I'll be running 35 spline axles. My choices have come down to an S-Trac or a Wavetrac. Can I really go wrong with either? Matter of price or personal preference? Looking for reliability as the number one factor between those two.

Thanks for any input.

I have been running the WaveTrac in an 8.8" 33 spline solid rear out back in my RX-7 with turbo LS9 power (1200rwhp approx) and it has not skipped a beat. Drives super nice and nothing remotely like a Detroit Locker. The lifetime warranty is a nice thing to have.

Look into the powertrax grip pro. I have that in a 35 spline 9” in my car and it has been awesome. It was developed with the help from richmond gear and Ive used Eaton, Detroit, the detroit with helical gears and a Auburn in the past for various rearends, this one has surprised me, Ive autocrossed with it, and it also hooks hard in a straight line on a track. Plus the price point is very hard to beat. I saved a few hundred and am glad I went with it, now Im buying one for an 8.8 im building

If reliability is your main concern I'd simply go with a spool. Lot's of street/strip cars are running spools and doing just fine on the street.

I understand the "ease of use". As far as reliability, I recommend you don't test that S-Trac with sticky tires and aggressive 60ft times at the track. Within 1 year of regular running at the track I went thru a Detroit True Track, a 31 spline Detroit Locker and a 35 spine Lenco billet Detroit Locker. I considered putting a S-Trac in it but decided to put a spool in it and never looked back.

The good news is the car will probably still be drivable if it fails.
