This video was something I really did not plan to do, but after seeing the outcome, I decided that if i can make such an improvement on the paint, it may help you guys, detail your ride over the winter. The DBG Mustang sat for over 20 years with junk piled on it, and things thrown on it. Paint over spray, all kinds of injuries bumps and scrapes. I decided to try and improve it some what, with just cleaning and waxing. Then I realized how bad it really was and started to read about paint correction as I see it being called. This was a major step for me, have never even attempted anything with paint, other than washing and waxing. What you see in these short 24 minutes, is more like a couple of days, on and off. I apologize for filming my back at first, but this was unplanned. So was the polishers spinning on and out of control, LOL, when I was not ready, what a mess, kids said leave that in, so I did. I would tell you if you have scratches and scrapes, you can remove them if you have clear coat, and make it brand new. I am by no means a body expert, but have had amazing results, and want to share it with you. Bad paint, bad scratches, think about compounding first, cutting off the layers of defect. With either aggressive wool pad, or yellow to orange foam pads. These cut more than polish. After you get the majority of defects buffed out, then you can use the polish of your choice. I was recommended 3M products or Maguire's products. Then polish with a lighter foam pad such as black, or 3m soft polisher pads. The pads vary so make sure your color correlates with aggressive versus soft, and what you trying to accomplish, compound or polish. I have not polished anything yet. My goal was compound the roof, tape off car, paint the inside, trunk, and engine compartment, install wiring harness, and then compound and polish the rest of the car.
