Mine is chromaly and it was $100.00 a point.

 

God damn. I got a pretty good buddy deal because a good friend of mine did it, and mine was more than that.

 

$100 per point for 4130 is STUPID cheap. For mild steel, I think the average is $110-150 per point. Chromoly, around $200/point probably. Definitely depends on what area you live in.

 

$100 a point is super cheap. Who built it and what was the quality?

And as a plug, you would be hard pressed to find anyone who does better work than Bob and Jay at NRC.

 

Chromoly 10 pt to frame with outriggers, door bars x'ed, rear bars x'ed, seat mounted and seat belt mounts. $2500. Next lowest bid I found was $3500.

 

Got my mild steel 10 point done 9 years ago for $450. My how times have changed...

How far does a car need to be stripped to get a 10pt cage put in it? I'll be needing one sometime later this year and I would like to have it ready when I set it up to be done.

They can but it would be much cheaper to buy a kit and let me put it in at my shop. By the time you buy the material and pay someone to bend it, weld it you'll have more in it. Im about to put one in my red car and that's how Im doing it.

My 8 pt was $1200 chromoly

Then adding removable door bars and 2 more points added another $1k.

But it was two seperate shops and price on the second shop was higher than the price for the first shop. quality is top notch on the entire cage so that is what is important to me.

That's who I have checked with. $1800 right now with their sale. Is that a good price? That includes cage kit, adj. lower cont. arms and panhard rod, through the foor subframe connectors, window net kit, and chute mount.

 

Cage was installed about 8 years ago by performance concept in Mokena il.

 

Our shop up here does a 10 point moly cage with net, seat mounts, seat belt tabs and certified for around 2k. His work is outstanding, but has a long wait to get in..Always busy!

 

Yeah that's usualy the problem any where you go. Ive got the capability to do them just havent had a place to do it till about a month ago when I had a shop built. It's allready been paying for itself.

Sorry to take your thread away but what would it cost for a 3rd gen firebird, with interior in, put in a 10pt chrome moly cage, and then put the interior back in? $350/pt?

NRC used to run a Christmas special every year to do a Fox Mustang cage. It was well under $2000. Not certain what their regular price is, but it would be worth calling them. I have also gone the Wolfe hold and weld route. It is a nice cage also, but by the time it got here with shipping, and had it welded, it would have been cheaper to just let Bob and Jay do it.

 

i was just given the price of 2500 to 3500 for a 8.5 moly cage in a 68 camaro.i just priced 1 5/8 moly and it is only 3.98 a ft.shit for under 300 bucks for moly. the price of labor is up there.

 

Where did you find that price?! Thats dirt cheap for material! I pay $6/foot usually.

 

Buddy just had an S&W Racecars 10pt installed, nice notched kit, only minor trimming. I'm down to them or Wolfe's 10pt.

 

I think you get a better fit with a custom bent set of bars instead of a kit, I like my stuff tucked in close.

 

Wolfe is the best and it fits great . good guys too.

 

I work outta my garage on my days off. I charge $100 a point for mild and $150 for C/M. I know things aren't getting cheaper so if I can help someone out I will. I do a little horse trading to. I'm not gonna be a millionaire but its all good.

 

I've never seen anything you've done and you could be the best chassis guy here. But at that price you are wearing out your equipment & your body, not making much if anything and taking food off the guys that do it for a living's table.

I see way more guys operating this way in my industry (residential HVAC) and it hurts everyone. I've seen some shop on here even that post they charge $35-
$40 an hour, that barely covers the overhead if operated legally. I'm not busting your balls but if your are any good you are degrading your self value and wearing yourself and your tools out for nothing.

 

Almost everyone makes a great kit for a fox body. But their are other cars out their. I would love a weld up kit from wolf or team z for my 2nd gen bird.
