I’m Picking one up
84777

In a couple days for my sons birthday. Read a lot on it compared to other youth quads and want to hear if anyone has first hand experience with maintenance , performance and so on.

My son is going to be 6 and has been riding for a couple years without a throttle stop.

We go to the sand dunes a lot and I’m hoping it has enough power to pull a paddle tire.

thanks for any input/advice

I didn't see "HP" specs for it, but I can say this. My youngest had a Kazuma 90cc quad when he was 4, throttle stop off at 5. I had some 4 paddle paddles on Douglass wheels for the sand drags. Too much tire for it. It was actually a little slower than another Kazuma 90cc with the stock tires. But, he liked the looks/throwing sand so much, they always stayed on. I think the wheels/tires are still out in the shop somewhere.
I did do a pipe/rejet/filter on his, but obviously didn't make much difference.

Also Im seeing some say adding exhaust helped power which should help turn the paddles

I bought the Kazuma because it was $500, and I had no clue if he would even want to ride. That damn thing took a BEATING. Got rode nonstop. Hydrolocked it once. Broke an axle. Lost god knows how many bolts from vibration. With that said, had I known he would ride that much, I would have gotten a Predator. Bigger body, more parts available. He'll have a shit load of fun on it for years.

My son has a 2011 Polaris Outlaw 90. He loves his atv except we have no place to ride it. MA wants him to take a online course, then take a riding course in order to get his paperwork. Then then want me to register it with the MA DEP every year. All this and they provide only 3 places to ride in Western MA. If he gets caught riding it on public land without his paperwork, I'll get fined up the butt.

We can legally ride on the side of the road in my county. However, as I unfortunately found out, if you are in an accident with a vehicle, you get fined. Regardless of who's fault it is, the ORV rider is automatically at fault. We had a guy run a stop sign, and my son t-boned him. Son laid unconscious for who know's how long until a neighbor came up on him. The truck he hit, a lady who was there, had somebody come pick her up, and neither her or the other guy in the truck called 911. It was still my sons fault though, because he was on the ORV.
Definitely want to be aware of all the laws.

My kids had one, but they’ve both upgraded. It was an okay machine but the Polaris outlaw 90 is much better. The Polaris has better suspension and a better motor. The motor in the Yamaha is the same motor, built by Eton, that’s in the Chinese quads. The first thing you need to do is put a larger pilot jet in it because the one that comes in it is too small. They’re hard to find because it’s a Eton motor with a Chinese carb, so your best bet is to just drill it out. I can’t remember what size, because it’s been a while, but I’d bet you can google it and figure it out because it’s a common thing. It really helped the bike out a lot.

now my daughter is in a Raptor 125 and my son rides a KX85.
