So I'm just starting to TIG. I've done a little MIG. Like install and weld the MS cage in the car. I cut it all out and ordered a 8.50 + FC CM from Wild Rides out of New Jersey. They are a great company to deal with. I test fit and tacked it together in the car. Pulled it out. Built some gussets and roof diagonal.

 

Working on getting it back in, strut bars and welding.

 

Really nice car man. Looks like your doing a great job on it.

 

These are From GP Headers. I didn't feel I could build anything remotely close to these. They have been great to work with. I'd recommend them to anyone.

 

Finished welding most the halo, hoop, strut bars. I'll never be a good welder. I have a really hard time unless I'm on bench with great light. Lots of respect for those that do this for a living.

 

Picked this up from Wild Rides. I'm cutting out the current ARB and factory A Box and Lower Mounts. I plan to tack it all in with a MIG. I'll finish TIG it... I do not plan on going coilover. I'd like to run a long coil spring in the factory location. Hopefully have enough adjustment in the 4 Link for a lot of Anti Squat and control the spring with a good DA shock.

 

I did not paint the frame red who knows what it's been trough. Picked it up (Chevelle) on Racing Junk. Was in Joliet Illinois. Car is very solid. I would love to know how it spent it's life. Built I believe in Texas as a 350, Column Shift, Factory Air. I bought the car in 2012 with a crate 555 650HP from Musi/Edelbrock. It was a dump truck engine. Wouldn't rev past 5,800. Went a best of 6.8's like that.

 

Finished the dash bar. Picked up some Maven products as well.

how is access to the spark plugs with the headers?

 

I tested this, no issues at all getting them in and out.

 

My 1st car was a 70 Chevelle so ill be following this build,

 

Did a little this week. Replaced the lower control arm mounts. This gives me one more position up and down. Also a lot more material. I think I can tie the #1 bar to this and it will be 2B. Going to read a little more.

I cut out the factory A-Box. I hope this works out.

 

This should give me more clearance and a lot more adjustment in the 4-Link. It was a lot of work. Next will be the ARB.

might be a dumb question.....how did you get the cage back inside the car if it was welded together outside on the garage floor?

 

I tacked and fitted it in the car, pulled the halo and hoop, final welded what I could. Put the hoop and halo back and glued them together.

This a something I've never done. I should have cut the pan out. Also would like to get the floor structure done by a local shop, everyone is slammed...

 

Been on rear suspension. I think I'll grab the Mono Tubes from Menscer. I spoke with them (John), very helpful. Need the cross-member for the the Coil-Overs done first. Looking for 15" at ride height, that will allow me to run 7" travel shock and a fairly light spring. Think I will also send a set of my BS to Mac-Fab and go ahead with double beadlocks as well.

 

The Coil-Over Brackets tacked on the housing, do they need any sort of braces or gussets?

 

Messing with a cross-member. Went ahead and ordered Coilovers from Menscer. I went with the Twin Tube and their springs. I have 18" at ride height, shock will have 8" of travel between the stops.
