People will always find a way to work within the "gray area".......
Reminds of X275 when the cold nitrous came out. Rules were changed to say all lines must be visible. Shortly after a guy showed up with a cold nitrous box that was clear. Technically all lines were visible. Guys day dream all day and lay in bed at night thinking about ways around rules.

I'd be interested to know how it works. I see people are saying "Well they don't want to say, because then people will find a way to work against it"

What I say is, who is going to purchase something without a description as to what it does. Would you randomly buy an engine just knowing its a BBC, but no size or description as to whats inside?

That's totally different.
If you trust the guy to build your timing system, and he claims he has a patch for an issue,
do you need him to send you the line by line code for the software or just fix it!!!

If you are buying an engine from RM or Sonny leonard and they offer some super secret killer cam,
are you going to turn them down because they won't give you the specs!!!

I'm curious why someone with the knowledge to build one, with no fight in the game has not built a tree reader to show how it would work? All in the open and showing it at a race track. Maybe NHRA should spend some money and hire a electronic engineering firm to prove it works,as well as being used to show what to look for.

I think that would be just as beneficial as a tree reader blocking device.
I'm guessing Brockmeyer could easily build one since he knows what he's blocking.🤔

I understand that Brockmeyer is in the business of selling products and making money.

But is it needed if no one has documented that they are being used in drag racing. I could sell tin foil helmet socks and just tell people that they work.

I'm just trying to say, if they are being used have someone prove the concept by building a tree reader to prove that they exist and are repeatable for all to see.

Has anyone seen the Motor Mania feed of the spring fling galot last year? Watch the Blue mustang that I believe ended up in the finals one day. The passenger side marker light always goes out when the tree activates and back on when the car moves. He was also picked as an Allstar by the fling staff in the Spring Flings 100k all-star race in Columbus later this year

I went to Dragstory, and all the guy's runs are listed in the Friday / 100k. Rd 3 he is 013 and 022 on the tree (double entered). Rd 4 022 and 001. Rd 5 001. Rd 6 022. Rd 7 010. Rd 8 006. Rd 9 019. (3 cars)

Good driving job? Absolutely !! If the guy was cheating wouldn't ya'll expect a little better than a 021 spread on his lights?

I think it was just a guy with an obviously good car (watch how smooth it leaves and lands) having a good driving day and right place in the staging lanes. Tightens it up at the finish line like any good driver. I see zero evidence he's cheating and no, I don't know him....

Best way to never get caught is to never be greedy.

Interesting concept. LOL

Based on the timing it appears he might have it hooked up so it goes out the car releases his transbrake button. Then the delay box takes over. It could be he does it so later he can view the videos in slow motion and "see" his own reaction to the light he uses to release the transbrake.

The way my transbrake circuit works is I have the reverse light circuit for power to activate "reverse" for normal driving. As a result, the reverse lights also go on when I activate the transbrake. The reverse lights are LEDs so when I use my "creep" function the reverse lights put on a hell of a strobe light show.

The ground wire thought doesn't really work for me. Headlights are typically grounded to the front of the car, and the marker lights should be on that same ground. Why don't both markers go out?

Small tire, steel, 5.30 back half car isn't your run of the mill 6.50 door car. Whoever puts a car together like that, and makes it work that good wouldn't be a $hit wirer IMO.

You would be surprised about the wiring/cars. Sometimes people just don't care. I know a guy who had his electronic Koni shock$ acting up. Was a loose wire nut (yes you read right) on one of them. Another local bracket racer car looks like a spiders web with the wiring. If he was cheating, I'm not trying to find it lol. Guy has close or over 100 wins now.

To make such a device is very feasible , the fact is all the light spectrum have a specific wavelength, just like we use the infrared sensors for the Pre-stage & Stage, we relay on the specific wavelength (940 nm)and 58 khz frequency of the infrared rays to make contact with each other, Now YELLOW light also has its own wavelength (570-590 nm)and we can build a sensor with same modulation of the first amber light bulb on the tree to complete the contact, the signal is sent to a microcontroller that makes the switching to activate the delay box and this in turn will release the transbrake in preset time. Now to the main question ..... how to find such a device and what to look for.... Now the eye (the camera & lens of sensor) is not necessarily be installed in the car, or in the delay box , nor in the gloves of the driver or in the helmet....the receiving sensor can be concealed in a camera or cell phone held by a crewmember of the team on the side line or even in the spectator stands and with the aid of a tripod holding the sensor steady aim and focus to first amber light of the tree in the lane of the racer in question , even a laser pointer can be used to aim the lens( be aware of laser pointers dancing around the tree) The triggering signal can be carried via a tiny radio transmitter in the camera to the receiver in the delay box to complete the task. The cost to build such device is around $250 , Now how to build a "Tree reader defender" The best defense is to overload with wrong signals the receiving sensor of the illegal device creating "noise", interference with small yellow leds around the amber bulbs, distracting? yes maybe, but small price to pay to ensure a fair competition.
By the way.... I build Timing Systems for Drag Racing, (including Trees and sensors) that's why I'm interested in the subject.

Green Light what timing system company do you work for. Everything you mentioned has already been done, with a cell phone. While the devices were never found it was known it was being used. Happened in Ohio and several other tracks. One even banned cell phones on the starting line at a big $$ race. now that tracks know what to look for as its the external aiming of the device that makes you question why someone has their cell phone pointed at the tree and not the car. Always takes a bit to fine the flaws in cheating devices. its a never ending circle as someone will build a better mouse trap cheat with and it starts all over again.

I'am based in Mexico , I'm 72 years old, Inglish is my second language ,been a Bracket Racer for a long time, I still race my Vega once in a while here in north part of Mexico, across the border from Del Rio TX. I just got started 5 years ago, making the Trees first than pre-stage & stage sensors made for drag racing purpose only , (not Industrial purposed sensors)and I call my self Green Light timing Systems, I focus on Low budget, basic timing systems, with only : A Timer Box, pre-stage , stage and finish, 3 wire cable for the long run(1/8 or 1/4 mile, )I also designed a wireless system ( no cable for the long run), I use this method (wireless, for Street racing, a starting tree with just a Green Light and finish sensors(One for each Lane) with dual purpose, to detect who cruses the line first? and send a radio signal to the starting tree to announce the winner by blinking the light of the winner lane) No timer on this setup. And working with this tiny radio transmitters gave me the idea that is what is being use on these "Tree reading device" ....The Radio receiver is so small with antenna integrated is about 1" wide x 1 1/2" Long and just 1/4" thick it can be hide any where in the car , the range of this setup is about 1/4 mile , the only visible thing will be 2 tiny, 22 awg wires going to the Delay box to activate it , the same two wires coming from the steering wheel transbrake button wired in series. it will very hard to find this device, that's why I suggest crating interference to overload this sensor(give it plenty of what is looking for at the wrong timing).

M120x-2 while i understand you questioning the facts, but what your asking is never going to happen in the way that you want it. Its easy to sit behind a keyboard and say build it to prove it but No one from a racer to a timing system is going to openly say they build a tree sensing device or any cheating device.. The backlash from doing something like that would be insane, history has proven that time and time again. It usually takes many years for devices to come to light, aka the matty box. And there is still a shroud of unknowns of who actually had them and how runs were won because of it. Same with Matty box 2.0 in the just recent years. There is enough evidence out there to show that some kind of new recent devices were being used. This is where you want all the facts to come out and its never going to happen. Just the fact that a specific device was built to stop a tree sensing device should be more than enough to say something existed and was being used. Why else would a company invest into building a device to prevent it if it didn't exist. Ask around to the people that were at the races where specific racers loaded up and left without question and never asked for refund. Even back with the dirty dozen, they never actually caught the device on the car. How many lawyers have won cases never having the true facts but enough circumstantial info did exist. And thats what is happening here, there was enough circumstantial evidence that tracks managers were alerted to specific cars to look out for from other tracks. Does the modern technology exist to build such a device absolutely, and very ingenuous i might add how it was done using a cell phone and bluetooth to feed info to the car.. Again devices were never found but that does not mean it does not exist as the actions and data says differently. Information leaked out already, as how do you think the device was built to counter the cheating device.

Last weekend we were running a 6.0 index race at Byron. After first round of qualifying the race director came over with a complaint from another racer that we had illegal electronics. He fingered the whole car & came to the conclusion that the index guys would have to get used to a turbo car spooling & bumping in. The bulb was flickering & the other racer red lit & ran under so he complained. I said to the race director that since he normally runs .011 to .015 lights that his electronics fucked up when his car went to leave because his optical sensor saw the bulb flicker. The track is trying to grow the classes & I have paid the fee knowing I can’t cut a light better than an .079 1 time Sunday but usually .125-.250ish & I cant run any slower than 5.70s so I hit the brakes & run 6.0s all day.
