Transmission Cooler in pit.
-We have a powerglide from BTE Transmission on our Race Car, which we are very pleased with.
- Planing to make an Oil Cooler that can be usefull while we are in the pit and the engine is NOT running.

Question:
Is it possible to put an extra pump externally (in the pit) and just run the oil through the existing oil system on the car, using the fan on the radiator, oilpan, hoses, etc., - can the oil be pressed / run through the gearbox oilpump in the transmission :unsure:??

Yes check out Kool Solutions or Mark Micke Transmissions. Kool Solutions is the innovator of them but M&M Trans took it to the next level by making the cooler cordless by making it run off a 18v milwaukee tools battery. www.mandmtransmission.com Portable Trans Cooler - M & M Transmission

some people have used a deep fryer oil pump & a few trans coolers mounted inside a cooler w/ ice water.

on a glide it's best to tap into the converter charge circuit in the valve body and pressureize that location with oil from the pan.

So,
Out of pan
-->pump
-->cooler
-->converter charge circuit
That will most effectively cool the oil that is in the pan AND the converter...and since most of the heat is in the converter anyway...that's where you want to focus

I know this is an old thread, but. If I pull from the pan and pressurise the charge circuit in the valve body for the converter. Can I assume the fluid is going to be pushed out the cooler line to get back to the pan? Ringed shaft powerglide.

Just pull from the pan and put it in the cooler lines, it will find it's way around just fine.

Under stood.
But I already have an internal dump valve. It would be easy to plumb a pump and check valve to pull from the pan and push into the valve body. If it would flow fluid through the converter then out the outlet port through the car mounted cooler and back into the inlet port on the trans.
