Enjoy -

Pete Aardema put two Aurora heads together to make the heads for his 1 off V-12. Mummert did the port work

A friend took inspiration from guys like these and built his own V-12 in his 2 car garage. He cut 2 cylinders off of (2) 289's and welded them together.

I gave him an AFB I had kicking around that was sort of close to his other carburetor to get it running. Riding in the car is an interesting experience. What your eyes are seeing doesn't match what you hear and feel.

He actually made his own cam blank to get the dimensions right and had it ground to his specs. He used an aluminum bell housing initially to save weight but wants to switch to a cast iron one for more support. I offered him a scatter shield but he wanted to use as many stock parts as possible.

He didn't mod the firewall but he did use a short water pump .

Yes but my point is- you have them using a production 302 block, that most anyone will say is not usable past 4.030, at 4.090 with a 3.5 crank. The major thrust loading at that HP level is not insignificant.

How do they get away with those thin cylinders? No mention of hardblock being used.
No comment on the cylinders, but a V12 is almost perfectly balanced though and pulses are distributed more evenly, so they are smoother / easier on the bottom end for a given power level.
