Hello everyone my name is Hanns. I joined this forum to get in contact with stuska1.
My back ground. I started out as a Ford dealer mechanic in Heavy line and Automatic transmission. Then I got employed with the City. Then worked on almost every brand of car and have some limited Semi truck experience. Now I work on water treatment equipment.

I have raced for years, but only my daily drivers. Have supercharged 2012 mustang with a Vortech on E85 nine second car. If anybody has questions about 6R80or 10R80 transmissions I have done serveral.

Current project. 66 Thunderbird Q code (428). I got this for my Dad who is in his nineties. I have a 63 427 FE Center/Top oiler block. I want to get a hold of stuska1 to convert this to hydraulic and build the whole engine for me if possible.

I hope I can help someone with Transmission questions or Coyote engine questions. And I really hope I can get stuska1 contact info or PM.

Thanks

You sound a lot like me… migrated from dealership flat rate life to a fleet/hourly/salary style life. Good move. Welcome here from me!

Also my wife has a ‘21 Bronco First Edition with a 10R80 with 72k on it. I may need you in the future 😆

Hello 69 torino,

Every since 2020 the 10R80 have gotten a lot better. 2018 10R80 are the most problematic, 2019 10R80 their was some improvement.

Interesting fact the 10R80 transmission pump is the pan not located in the center of the transmission behind the torque converter. Also the F-150 10R80 equiped with start stop has 2 pumps in the trans the mechanical and a electric pump. Both are located in the pan/valvebody area. I have never seen a bronco or other suv 10R80 apart though.

Good info. That makes sense, a coworker of mine has already replaced the rotating assembly “cartridge” in his 2018 F150 10R80, but it’s a 5.0 with headers/tune/gears/big tires. It lives a hard life. The Bronco is stock and will largely stay that way. Getting 200k out of her trans and engine would be great.

The one way clutch and the frictions is what dies in the 10R80's. The one way is ultimately going to be the part that the aftermarket will have to develop a billet replacement for big horsepower longevity.

Latest new guy intro here. Eric from TN. I'm resurrecting an old drag car project which I abandoned when I got married 25 years ago. Not much left of it but the body and front subframe. It's a 1974 Nova hatchback. Beginning the project is a long way off. I'm here to learn and make a plan. Been lurking for a little while off and on. Good stuff and cool projects here!

Hi There, been a member for a while without posting much. I've been drag racing for years with my own cars. My Dad recently passed away and he left me his car with a Y-block in it. Hoping to meet some Y-block guys on here and start procuring some of the Mummert goodies my Dad always dreamed of having.

Hey all, long time lurker first time joiner. While primarily a Ford guy (9 mustangs and even an SVT contour (don't laugh)), I have come to appreciate things about GM and Mopar (even some foreign brands too) and have had a couple Corvette's over the years and a Jeep Trackhawk too. Glad to be here!
