Can anyone tell me if the 2.3l four cylinder from a 1992 mustang 5 speed will directly swap with a 2.3l four cylinder in a 1995 ranger with an automatic ???

I've got the mustang, but it's really getting rotted BAD but the driveline is still fine, and came across the mint ranger with a siezed engine..........if it's a direct swap I would do it, just don't wanna have any kinds of issues. Just trying to keep a decent DD going to save my PSD dually and fuel money.

Thanks...............

thanks for the reply, I was afraid of exactly what you are saying.

So if I was to find a 1994 or older Ranger, the engines are the same ???

And do you know how far back ( to what year ) the ranger engine is the same as the 2.3 in my 1992 mustang???

Thanks

the 1994 and down (efi ) ranger motor are the same as a mustang 1987 to 1993. the 1995 and up motors are made different they have duall crank trigger sensors and the motor mounts are different and the acc mounts are different. somethen about the way they did the susp in the 1995 and up ranger is why they changed it.

because basically the 1995 and up rangers are the same as the 1995 and up explorers-from what ive gathered

even when ordering suspension parts alot of the control arm parts numbers match from the ranger and explorer-although i have come across some of those twin i beam setups as well

im currentily trying to figure out the best way of swapping a v8 into a buddies ranger...while using an explorer setup-suspension and all

It should work.
The problem with the 95 to 90 swap is the 90 Ranger used a 4 plug motor and the 95 uses a 8 plug motor. The 92 Mustang also uses an 8 plug motor. You should be able to do the swap will have to change the oil pan.

Hey guys any idea what those little 2.3's with an auto trans is worth. It runs good, I have been driving the crap out of it playing around. Its a 93 model in a Mustang that I bought at a farm auction for cheap and instead of blowing it up I may try to get some part money out of it.
