Took my employee's out for Christmas dinner. Told them ahead of time that our per person limit was $30 per person ($60 per couple). Before that, we went and bought $50.00 gift cards for them and my wife made some nice gift baskets for them. She also spent another $150 on door prizes to be raffled off during dinner. Just to keep things interesting. Before the party we handed them copies of the menu so they could decide what they wanted.
Well, we get there, things are going smooth. I opened up a bar tab on my own CC. Waiter comes around and starts taking orders. First four people ordered Steak & Lobster at $60 per plate. Next four people ordered Surf & Turf at $50.00 per person. Then the rest ordered Ribeye at a cost of $40.00 per person. My wife and I both ordered a nice $20 chicken dinner. This plus all the fixens and we ended up with a $1000+ dinner bill. This was for a total of 16 people. And that is plus another $250 on my CC for drinks.
Now I feel I'm a good boss and I like taking care of my people. But I swear, some of them are just ungrateful as all hell. They walk around acting like we owe them something all the time. They don't understand that this money comes out of MY paycheck, not the company. The company itself don't give us squat except a job. Tell you what, this is the last time we go to a restaurant. Next year, we will just burn some meat at the office. I will hand out some boxes of candy and if they don't like it, hit the bricks....:smt093
