Running an air cleaner on a Dominator

We are running a BBC with a 1250 Dominator and have always run an air cleaner. 16" 2"drop with a 3.5 filter and a 14" filter style top. The motor shifts/ traps around 7,200.
Never ran without it. Planning to go T&T tomorrow.Thought I would do a back to back, one with and one without the air cleaner. Any predictions on the outcome? Could this filter be restricting air flow? 3,400 lb car running 5.80s.

I always ran the K & N style. About those dimensions, with the extreme flow through top. Got a good deal on the screen type, and swapped it to find out when I changed to a more low profile hood scoop. In my case it didn't pick up any. Really depends on the amount of restriction in the original system, right? All we can do, is do an A-B test and see. So, post the results. Sort of interested in finding out if it did pick up.
In case it's faster, the screen type I got second hand can be bought for only $85 new. At least it keeps the rocks out, right?

I ran the K&N velocity stacks (actual filters were 7” diameter x 4-1/2” tall) on my truck for several years. It was a 585 BBC with dual 750’s that ran 5.80’s at 116 and 9.20 at 145 at 3400 lbs. I switched to a single 1300 dominator and fabricated an adapter to fit the same dual filters that I already Had so that it would fit the hole in my hood. It ran the same as with the dual 750’s. To answer your question; I took the filters off both setups many times over the years to compare the difference, but there was no change at all......none. If you have a stock paper filter you will probably see a difference. Maybe little to nothing with a high flow or K&N.
