Funny thing is that Bon Scott was only the lead singer for a few years whereas Brian Johnson has been lead singer for decades, Johnson laughs when he says Aussies still refer to him as the 'new bloke'

Brian Johnson had big shoes to fill stepping into that role of lead singer for AC/DC.The band was on the cusp of major stardom when Bon died. They got the right guy on the first try. That band was probably the closest knit group going at the time, with Malcom basically the leader..To lose the frontman and come back with the album that they did was no accident.
I like the Bon Scott years myself, and only have one album with Brian Johnson (Back in Black).
I bought that Let There Be Rock album as a teenager when it was first released, solely because of the record cover. We were hardcore rockers always searching the local record stores for the newest sound.Took it home played it and before long everybody who had heard it bought it and they caught fire in our small town.
What took them so long to break in America was no touring act wanted them on the bill as an opener.

The first two arena dates when they did finally make it to America, their 30 min set was cut in half, then after the second night they were released from the bill as an opening act.If memory serves correct,it was REO Speedwagon they were opening for.
Could one imagine being backstage and watching these guys for the first time just tearing it up,and your band were to follow that ??

I always thought the band's music was more irreverent and edgy with Bon. Kind of had a punk rock vibe. With Johnson they became more top 40-ish. I don't mind listening to either era.

Never heard Bon Scott in concert but saw Brian Johnson in the mid-80's and the man lost his voice after the 3rd song. Actually fell asleep! Being stoned didn't help.
