What are the advantages going with a rougher surface?

 

I wish I could take some of today's porting and surface technique back in time to the 50s and show it around........ it would be a hoot!

I just bought one if these intakes. So you guys completely get rid of that massive amount of over hang that is right under the carb pad in each corner?

 

Can't really make the runners equal on a single plane, but guys like Eric and Chad that know what their doing can drastically improve the cross section and line of sight. I had Eric port my Motown intake a few years ago and was extremely happy with it. I hogged out the elbow to match the carb flange also. Can't really quantify the results, but with just the manifold and elbow work and going to 1.6 from 1.5 rockers the car picked up big time.

 

Not the same intake as yous, but did similar modifications on my Bill Mitchell SBF Dominator intake. The surfaces were also left rough as the previous examples. On both the intake and head Duane Busch did the port matching, blending and polishing, along with milling out the cloverleaf to open it up more.

 

What would be needed to the edelbrock 2925 super victor to help it flow better
I will be port matching it to a 1206
