Hey all,

Just wanted to see if anyone else running tci transbrake solenoids has had issues with them leaking. On my third one and it leaks from the center of the barrel of the solenoid. Contacted tci and they are not rebuildable at all.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has had issues or fixes. Thanks in advance.

I once sent a customer 2 leaking solenoids in a row to replace a leaky solenoid encountered when installing one of our brakes. When I finally asked him what the o-ring and o-ring seat in the case looked like and got an answer along the lines of "What o-ring?', I finally figured out what was wr:rolleyes:ng.

thanks for the response gents...

camdup- yes whenever i check it the drip is coming off of the circular part of the solenoid which moves. Everything above the solenoid is dry.

chris718 - Def. one of the first things i checked haha. The o ring is still on there and intact.

Whenever I replace in it is alright for a little while until it starts leaking again. If no one else is having the issue then I must be doing something.

I was thinking about looking for other solenoids with the same throw and trying them. Not sure if this can be done (having different solenoid and valve body companies).

Thanks again for the response.

Once the required amount of valve travel has been verified and the work description/requirements of the valve in both of its upshifted and downshifted positions are understood , other solenoids may be test fit to check if their stroke meets the design requirements. Most have similar strokes, and if not, the use of a stock or modified modulator valve may be all that is necessary to get the desired results. In general with valve bodies with a functioning reverse there are two independent oil supplies to the valve for the purpose of applying the direct clutch and rear band simultaneously for either reverse or transbrake activation depending on valve scheduling. IE solenoid either "on" or 'off". Valve bodies without of a functioning reverse will have one independent oil supply to the valve for the purpose of applying the direct clutch and rear band simultaneously for either reverse or transbrake activation depending on valve scheduling. IE solenoid either "on" or 'off". Many solenoid designs lack positive sealing of the actuator shaft and this is the main cause of leaks I have encountered.

I have tci th400 tb solenoids (221300) and both the original and replacement leaked shortly after install. I lowered the fluid check level by 1/2 qt and it stopped leaking. This was 7 yrs ago and still no leaks to date. I install mine with the wire openings facing down.

Not saying this is your problem, just what I experienced and has worked for me.
