At a traffic stop you have to use common sense also. If you give answers that make his job harder or aggravate him, it may lead to a more complicated situation than necessary. I'm generally not concerned about anything except the ticket I may or may not get. My answers are usually "yes sir" or "no sir" and will engage in normal small talk because it puts the officer at ease. Honestly, I've never had an officer start prying by asking questions that were not necessary.
